Story
Meet Bear! He's an affectionate cat and heartwarming companion and he does not roam the jungle (or woods) alone. As one half of a bonded pair with Bambi, Bear takes on the role of the curious leader, guiding his best friend into new situations. Bear has a magnificent playful side that will appear after he's carefully navigated his new environment. Once all terrain has been deemed clear for adventure, you will see Bear is a fierce ball and laser chaser. Bear is also cuddly and enjoys the comfort of snuggling up on the couch for gentle pets. If interested in fostering Bambi and Bear, please reach out to cat.fostergroup@lostdogrescue.org, or complete the foster application (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf6I1kkrQFpjmTFKcS7-OgTkyhNIMgmpBe9A83g-oET_-TbhA/viewform)

Story
JJ's world was turned upside down when his previous owner had to surrender him due to housing restrictions, but this resilient little guy is ready to start a new chapter. At just 11–12 months old and weighing 8 pounds, JJ is a young, spirited cat who has already begun settling into his Arlington, VA foster home. JJ is a playful and talkative kitty with a big personality. He loves following his foster mom around the house, lounging next to her, and getting head scratches. He’s even started sharing her bed at night. He adores interactive play—he’ll bring his favorite spring toys upstairs for you to toss—and keeps himself entertained watching the world through the window. This charming boy has a soft, shiny coat and loves attention, though he prefers to keep his paws on the ground (he’s not a fan of being picked up). While he’s independent in his own way, JJ thrives on companionship and will let you know when he wants to be petted or talked to. A few things to keep in mind: JJ can get overstimulated during play so he’s not a match for homes with young children. He’s still shy around strangers and will hide initially but will pop out to investigate once he feels comfortable. JJ hasn’t been tested with other cats or dogs, but a trial adoption could help determine compatibility. Due to JJ's car sickness during his ride to the foster home, he’s hoping for a forever family nearby. His foster mom is heading out of town for Christmas, and JJ would love to spend the holiday with his new family instead of being alone. JJ is microchipped and ready to meet his perfect match! Could you be the one to give this sweet, playful boy the loving home he deserves? Posted: 11/15/24 |

Story
Meet "Pippin" who is a very special survivor kitty! This little guy is still a bit underweight and his beautiful fur is still growing in, but after several weeks in a loving foster home, he is thriving. Pippin is on the quieter side (for a kitten!) but really loves company, both feline and human...loves lapsitting. He needs a slow introduction to other cats, but once he's comfortable, he gets along with everyone he meets. He loves to play chase with his foster siblings but has no idea how to wrestle, so he needs a young, gentle kitty to help him learn. When he's done playing, he will cuddle up to his humans (or ON them!) for a lovely nap. This is a very gentle kitten who appreciates a soft touch and would do best in a home that wants to give him a little extra TLC. This is going to be a seriously gorgeous kitty with medium-length soft fur and amazing ear tufts! Note: we only adopt kittens in pairs or one to be a companion to another kitten/young cat already in the home. Meet him in Lorton, VA Posted 12/12/24

Female, approx 5 year old. DMH Orange Sweet Mango is new to the rescue and we can't wait to find out more about her! If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care. Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.
