Story
First, we told you about Lourde, and now we would like to tell you about Layla. Layla and her siblings got their passports ready when their owner sent them all the way to the US from Egypt to find them a new loving home. Layla was born around January of 2016. She’s had some time to warm up in her foster home, and now we know her true personality. Layla is 100% a girl boss and lets everyone know it. But of course, Layla is in charge. Have you seen this beautiful girl? Look at these tiger stripes! Layla has one cloudy eye that doesn't affect her ability to get around. She hasn’t been dog-tested but seems to tolerate other cats. She is the first to greet her favorite person and would do fine with families. Layla and Lourde would be best kept traveling together. The fee for this pair is $250 . Apply today. https://www.hart2heartanimalrescue.com/forms/form?formid=6527.

Story
Meet Speedy, a senior black Domestic Shorthair with a unique personality. This affectionate cat has a tendency to show her love intensely but might sometimes become overstimulated and react unexpectedly. Speedy's ideal home might be one where she can shine as a solo feline or possibly alongside dogs, as she does enjoy their company. However, her journey to find the right match requires a patient and understanding adopter willing to give her the time and space she needs to feel secure and settled. This senior sweetheart, despite her quirks, has a lot of love to give to the right person or family. Are you the patient and compassionate soul who can provide Speedy with a calm and loving environment where she can truly thrive? Email her foster barbaracozzens@gmail.com to learn more about her.

Story
Milkshake is a beautiful senior kitty who isn't asking for much - just a warm, soft bed and a sunny window to live out her retirement years! Milkshake is estimated to be roughly 17 years old, and we don't know a lot about her history. We do know she is smart, independent, and curious, and you'd never guess that she's a senior; she's healthy, playful, and surprisingly athletic! Milkshake is also fairly spicy, so based on her personality and temperament, she would be a good candidate for a "working cat" or "barn cat" situation. If she were younger, she would be a great mouser (and probably still is)! However, given her age and her preference for being your only kitty, her ideal home would be one with no other cats or dogs, some nice comfy blankets, windows for her to observe the outside (her favorite pastime), and parents who understand that loving Milkshake means keeping a decent supply of Bandaids on hand ;-). Milkshake likes her space, but once she's comfortable with you, she loves getting head and ear rubs. She can be hand shy and quick to swat, so she must go to an adult home with experienced cat owners. Like most spicy kitties, Milkshake can have a short fuse and is easily overstimulated, so she would need someone who can respect her boundaries. Because we don't know her history, we don't know why Milkshake does not enjoy being picked up, or why she gets tense and suspicious if she feels she's going to be messed with, but her forever family should be aware that she is generally a chill kitty that can get aggressive if she's feeling extremely fearful or cornered. Please feel free to email me at collingsfostercats@gmail.com to let me know if you're interested in visiting Milkshake, or if you know of someone who can give this frisky senior kitty a comfortable and loving retirement! ** $640 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** ** Interested foster through rescue ** Jax ACCT-A-170518 and Samson ACCT-A-170519 are currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Jax and Samson must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by Thursday August 15th at 10 A.M. Should Jax and Samson's medical or behavioral status change, their urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Jax and Samson came in as owner surrenders on 8/1 when their owner was hospitalized and unable to care for them. Unfortunately, they have come down with progressive shelter acquired upper respiratory infections that are putting them at risk of declining, so they are urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner. They were very fearful and fractious when they arrived. On 8/3 staff noted that Jax was "fractious attempting to run escape and flee. Cat is stressed. Samson was also displaying fractious behavior. On 8/4, they noted that Samson was "tense, growling, hissing and had airplane ears. They were both started on gabapentin for one week to help them settle in. On 8/7 during a sedated check in, staff found Jax to be approximately 7 years old and in good health other than having a "severe flea infestation and covered in live fleas with thinned patchy fur. Samson was estimated to be 4 years old and was in good condition overall. On 8/11, Jax was noted to have an upper respiratory infection and was started on Doxycycline, Cerenia, and Elura, and was given fluids for dehydration. Jax tested negative for FIV and FeLV. On 8/13, he was noted to be drooling with dried debris caked on mouth and vesicles and ulcerations at the back of his throat. He also has mild gingivitis, a dirty, diffusely thinning hair coat, and prolonged turgor. He has a very thin body condition and no interest in food. His courses of Cerenia, Elura, and fluids were extended and he was prescribed Buprenorphine and Clindamycin for the ulcers. On 8/12, Samson was started on Doxycycline as he was showing signs of an upper respiratory infection as well. On 8/13, his symptoms were also worsening, so he was started on Cerenia, Elura, and fluids. He was "Shut down, does not enjoy handling but allows it. On 8/13, they allowed petting, but Samson flinched away at first. Both are diagnosed with progressive upper respiratory infections, poor body condition, and chronic dermatitis (possibly due to flea allergies). Jax and Samson are in urgent need of placement with a rescue partner to prevent further decline at the shelter.
