Story
Hi, we're Tara & Calcifer, a 9-month-old pair of besties searching for a home of our own. Tara (medium hair gray/white tuxedo, female): Hi, I'm Tara! I was abandoned in the countryside with my sister over the summer. A very kind community member found us and noticed that we seemed really sick, so she got us help! My sister ended up passing away from suspected poisoning. I was really sick too, but I spent some time at the hospital and now I am in tip-top shape! My sister was my best friend, though, and losing her was really hard for me. I really love my foster brother, Calcifer; we met in foster care and have been inseparable ever since. I have a hard time making new feline friends, and although I am getting better, I would probably be happiest without any other cats in our forever home. I love to play and am full of beans. I'm crafty and super smart, and can make a toy out of nearly anything! I'm a little bit of a Miss Independent - I like cuddles, laying in your lap, and being picked up, but only on my own terms. Usually I'm too busy running around for that stuff! I'm very vocal, too, and I love to talk to my foster moms all day long. My foster moms say Calcifer and I are the silliest, most affectionate duo they've ever had! Calcifer (silver tabby, male): Hi, I'm Calcifer! I am named after a fire spirit from a movie, and my foster mom says it's a fitting name. I am high-energy, silly and full of personality. I also have a chill side - nothing much phases me, and I'm pretty happy to go with the flow! I'm super vocal and love to talk to my foster moms all day long, and I take my job of "water fountain security guard" very seriously, letting them know every time it's getting low! I met Tara in foster care and we became best friends. We love to wrestle and chase each other around all day long, and then curl up in bed with you at night. We haven't been tested with dogs but would likely do okay with cat-savvy dogs given appropriate, slow introductions. We are untested with kids but would do well with them given appropriate boundaries. Tara & Calcifer have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, health-checked by our veterinary partners, and both tested Negative for FIV/FELV. The adoption fee is $400 for the pair. If you have room in your heart & home for this dynamic duo, please submit an application at www.heartstohomes.ca/cat-adoption.

Story
CLEO, DMH, CALICOBORN FEBRUARY 5, 2018I am Cleo and rightfully named after the famous and last Pharaoh of Egypt, Cleopatra! I am a queen and I am truly stunning! Kneel before me and serve me, is my attitude. I mean, Egyptians did worship cats and that is such the right attitude to take!I am petite and gorgeous but not for the faint of heart. No children please as I need to be the only one that you concentrate on during my reign of your home as I need a very experienced cat owner. I can be quite grateful and allow you to pet me and love me. I do get a bit over stimulated so I may let you know that I am finished with your adoration and that you may continue with your other chores. Yes I am regal but I can love and will love the right person. So if you think you are the one, come and ask for an audience with me. Don`t keep me waiting!Location: Foster Home

Story
Hurley was surrendered to Abbey cats and thankfully so. He is approximately 9 or 10 yrs old and wasn’t in great shape. He was soon diagnosed with diabetes (now in remission) and he also had severely infected teeth which has all been taken care of. He is now starting to understand how feels to be healthier. At first, it was hard for him to trust people and he didn’t like to be touched, pet and definitely not picked up. However now he loves to have his chin, head and neck scratched and kissed, gently pet on his head and back and totally enjoys it when you talk to him. He is a little independent but an amazing guy but, don’t let him suck you into feeding him too often with his persuasive ways. He can’t jump up onto the bed or sofa so if you would like him to sleep or sit with you, he will need stairs to climb up (which he learnt within a day with treats of course). He has come a long way and is showing more affection, loyalty and charming character. He doesn’t do well with other cats, dogs and or children. He is best suited in a quiet home and will need someone who understands diabetes and take BG readings (Blood Glucose readings that will need to be taken every 3 days). Feeding should be 90% protein (wet food) 10% carbs (dry food) to keep the glucose levels down. Diabetic in remission, will need BG levels taken every 3 days.
