Story
Meet Timmy! Timmy....still a sweet senior cat....but a much less complicated version! When Timmy arrived in HART's care in early June, he was in pretty rough shape. As a 14 year old, obese kitty, he was lethargic and in need of some serious grooming. The vets quickly determined that his blood sugar levels were extremely high and he was put on a special diet and insulin injections. Over the next few weeks, his levels stabilized, his energy level improved, and he truly began to enjoy life again. Timmy now no longer requires insulin or a specialized diet. He loves being brushed and petted and just hanging out with his people. He is still working on weight reduction, so we limit his diet to 1/2 cup daily of dry kibble. He tolerates other cats, but would love to be king of the castle! Timmy came into HART's care after his owner was moved to hospice care and was no longer able to care for him. Let's find Timmy his new forever home. All HART kittens and cats are vet checked, combo tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and tick preventative. If you are interested in any of our kitties, you must complete an online cat adoption application available at www.rescueahart.org/adopt/cat-application. The application will put you in touch with a HART volunteer.

Story
Meet Samurai - Courtesy Post Only Samurai courtesy listing: Sam is a friendly, affectionate, and playful survivor! He is 7 years old, neutered (male), microchipped, and current with vet care. Only adopters willing to keep his nails and keep him indoors will be approved. Sam does great with his litter box and scratching post and is easy to care for. Sam’s special needs include yearly dental cleaning and x-rays (he required a root canal to save a broken canine tooth - the dentist doesn’t foresee future issues), over the counter sensitive skin kibble due to sensitive skin in his mouth from past trauma, and only using metal bowls for his food and water. Sam enjoys all the attention his foster family is giving him, but would like a family of his own. He enjoys to travel (no problem going into a cat carrier). He might also make a good therapy cat if you're looking for that special social kitty. Call or text 812.560.8071 for more information regarding adopting Samurai. References and home visit required prior to adoption. This kitty is not in HART's care. Call or text the phone number above directly for questions or more information.

Story
Meet Oliver! Oliver was found huddled on the side of the road with another cat (Annie). A good Samaritan stopped to help him and then called HART. When he came into the foster home he was terrified and hungry. He needed a safe quiet space to decompress and adjust to regular food and water. After a few weeks, he started to play with his foster family! Oliver was still very scared and would run if you moved too quickly but he was making progress and feeling more comfortable. We found out the quickest way to his heart is through treats! He can't get enough and will come running to you to get more! We have had him in foster care for a few months now, and there is a huge difference from when he first came to us! Oliver takes a little bit to warm up but will come out of his shell fairly quickly to get treats and to play! He loves wand toys and shoe strings best. He doesn't mind being brushed but generally takes pretty good care of his grooming needs. He will butt his head into your hand and enjoys full back scratches all the way to the tip of his amazing tail. He is pretty curious and likes to explore and see what's going on. Oliver can be vocal at times and sounds like he is asking questions while he walks around, though his meow is not super loud. Oliver does well with the resident cats and doesn't mind the resident dog either (though he is pretty calm and very good with cats). I don't believe he would do well in a home with small children since he is easily scared by sudden movements and noises. I think he will do best in a calm, quiet home where he is given time to adjust. Oliver would love a home with another friendly cat(s). He really enjoys being with other animals and learning from them. He is always rubbing his head against the resident cats and playing with the other foster kittens! Oliver is a pretty low maintenance cat and will make a great companion! Oliver is around 1-2 years old and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Story
Gracie is a 5 month old Domestic Medium to longer hair kitten. She was brought to me as a 7 week old kitten from Lancaster Kentucky. She had a long trip at a young age. The founder thought she had a severe illness which actually turned into tapeworms and has been cleared up. She has the strangest coat colors. She was all black then got white eyebrows that made her look like Marvel Character Wolverine. They have since changed back to black. Now her tail is all white and I call her my skunk girl (Due to her coloring). Her tail may change back to black at some point; but right now is white. She loves to play with the other kittens in my cat room, especially Faith who was brought to me at the same time. She loves to be held and purr when she is not playing. Please consider giving her the best home possible. HART recommends kittens 6 months of age and younger be adopted in pairs.
