Story
Through our Working Cat Program, the Humane Society of Greater Dayton works with individuals and companies to place unsocialized cats into non-traditional homes. These cats are mostly feral or semi-feral and do not do well in a home environment, but they are still wonderful and healthy cats. Some places that can benefit from a working cat include: Farms Nurseries or greenhouses Warehouses Breweries Junkyards Workshops They can benefit your facility by providing you with environmentally-friendly rodent control. All they ask in return from you is daily food, water, and a safe shelter away from the elements or other wildlife. The Responsibility of the Owner If you choose to adopt a working cat from us, you would be responsible for providing them with daily food and clean water, proper shelter, and veterinary care if needed. All of our working cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ear-tipped prior to being placed in your new location. The staff and volunteers at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton are happy to work with you to provide guidance to make the brief transition from our shelter to your location a success. If you like more information on welcoming a working cat into your facility, please apply here: https://hsdayton.org/programs-services/community-cat-initiative/working-cat-program/

Story
Indoor cat Aziza (Beloved Precious and Mighty) is a very sweet girl; all she wants is her daily back scratches that she makes sure you give her as soon as you walk in the door. She loves to be snuggled. Oh, she loves to be feed on time too :) or she'll just squawk at you until you do. (she only does a full meow when she is scared) She is a rescue, we found her up in Lorain Oh while visiting family. Someone had left her de-clawed, outside and left her behind when they moved. I really wish we could keep her but between my allergies and our work schedules (career changes) I believe she deserves to have more love and space to roam that we just can't give her. She is free to a Loving Home that she deserves!

Story
Unfortunately we are looking to rehome our wonderful cat Kiki. She was gotten as an only pet and as our family has grown it has become clear that she needs to be in a home where there is max 1 other pet. I like to say she’s the perfect cat for someone who hates cats she does her own thing 90% of the time but will come and cuddle if you sit still long enough. We got her as a stray so she isn’t a fan of being handled but that hasn’t been an issue for us before. She is spayed and up to date on shots and had absolutely no issues prior to us getting our second dog, but has since peed outside of the litter box occasionally (1x every 2 months). We have tried everything under the sun to stop this behavior over the past three years and the vet and we have come to the conclusion that she’s just not happy. I am confident the peeing would stop if she were in a lower stress environment.
