I came from a house where I was living with 53 other cats! Most of us were sick and flea infested. Our owner voluntarily surrendered us to do what was best. Now that I'm back up to health, I'm ready for a new start! Mavis has been vaccinated, wormed, spayed/neutered and tested negative for FELV which is all included in the adoption fee.  This cat is FIV positive which means that their immune system could become a little weaker than a non FIV cat. FIV cannot be transmitted to humans or dogs and is only transmitted to other cats through mating and deep puncture wounds. It is not spread via grooming or sharing food bowls or litter boxes. So as long as they like other cats they can be adopted to a home with them whether the existing cats are FIV or not. FIV+ cats live long happy lives and usually live just as long as non FIV cats. If you would like to adopt this cat, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays) All cats must leave the shelter in a carrier. If you do not bring one with you, one must be purchased at the shelter if available for $6.

Nipsy is a medium-haired beauty with a story that’ll tug at your heart and a pair of white “slipper” feet and long white whiskers that are sure to win you over. This sweet boy was brought to us at the start of July by a local grassroots rescue who wanted to make sure he had a safe place to land after being heartbreakingly abandoned. A concerned neighbor overheard his previous owner saying the cats were no longer welcome—and then saw Nipsy and another cat left outside with only their litterbox. While Nipsy was fortunately rescued a few weeks later, the fate of the other cat remains unknown. Though he’s been through more than he ever should have, Nipsy has shown incredible resilience, grace and trust. He’s a cat who knows what it’s like to be unwanted and now he’s ready to know what it’s like to be deeply loved. Nipsy is a sweetheart with a gentle spirit. His black and white coat is silky and soft and his expressive eyes reveal just how much he’s been waiting for someone to call his own. His adopter will need to brush him regularly to keep his gorgeous medium-length fur in top shape. Grooming will be a great way to bond with him. Nipsy is seeking a home where he can be the only cat. He’s adorned with the fluffiest white feet that look like cozy slippers and whiskers so long and white, they practically deserve their own zip code. Nipsy’s story may have started with heartbreak, but it doesn’t have to end there. He’s safe now and ready to give his trust and love to someone who will never give up on him. If you’ve been looking for a calm, classy companion with a heart full of gratitude and a whole lot of love to give, Nipsy might just be your guy. The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times.
