Story
Gypsy is playful, enjoys catnip toys, sparkle balls, teaser wands and feathers. She appreciates places to hide and enjoys napping at the top of a cat tower. Gypsy gets a charge out of being in a Catio (enclosed patio for cats) where she can watch the birds and chase bugs. Gypsy came to Friends of Jackson County rescue traumatized when discovered on an interstate ramp. Her post traumatic symptoms are fearfulness and interacting with people. Gypsy does not like to be held, confined or being put in a trapped situation. In a stable home with routines and a respect for her fear, Gypsy is a perfectly pleasant house cat. She needs stability, space and her human companion to respect her boundaries and limitations. Gypsy will be dependent on you to take care of her. Her ideal home is with adult people, preferably someone who is experienced with cats and is capable of continuing to work with her and follow her care and training plan to continue positive progress. Gypsy must be an inside kitty only. She is very social towards other cats and gentle with kittens. It would be in Gypsy's favor if she was adopted with another cat that she pals around with; recommendation can be provided. A home with no dogs is preferred. Gypsy is 1 year old with a black medium length coat. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats. Story
Josephine is sassy, saucy and brassy but she is a doll! She goes for basking in the sun, lounging on a cat tree and feasting on lickable cat treats. Josephine chirps like a songbird when she wants something and can be very persuasive with those big eyes! She is shy and apprehensive with new people and new places but with love, patience and plenty of lickable treats Josephine should be confident quickly. She is skeptical of loud noises, such as, a dishwasher or vacuum cleaner. Josephine’s ideal home is with an individual, couple or family with older children. A home that is quiet and calm. She would do best in a home with a feline friend. Josephine will be fine with a cat-friendly dog that is mature and has a tranquil demeanor. A slow introduction to any new pets is needed. Josephine is 2-years-old with a blue medium length coat. She has a semi-cobby body with a small frame, big round eyes that are bright and full of color. If interested in meeting this kitty, you can find an online adoption application at https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/ adoption fees cover spay/neuter, vaccinations, wormers and preventatives and range from $30-$110. Story
Wednesday is adorable, lovely and endearing. She has the qualities that tend to make you love her! Wednesday idolizes being in the company of her human companion. She is modest and apprehensive. Wednesday will greet you at the door and cherishes nestling up to you during the night. Her ideal home is with an individual, couple or family. Wednesday does not interact with other cats or dogs; therefore, she will be fine as the only pet as Wednesday is relaxed and peaceful on her own. She has a medium length coat with a patched tabby pattern. As of May 2024, Wednesday is 7 months old. Story
Frank is a lovebug, talkative and mischievous. He is super pleasant, friendly and good-natured. Frank is chill, relaxed and lounges around on the porch with his human companion. He will occasionally get a burst of energy and run around the house. Frank walks really well on a leash and harness. He releases his vigor by pouncing and catching a toy at the end of a kitty wand. Frank's ideal home is with an individual, couple or family. He is composed and amiable with other cats and a cat-friendly dog. Frank is 10 years old with a blue medium length coat, golden yellow eyes and a left crinkled ear. He is in early-stage kidney disease; therefore, must be on a special diet, otherwise Frank is doing very well! Story
Hunter is calm, charming and playful. He is a snuggly boy once he settles in and would love to binge watch a TV show with his human companion as long as you share the snacks! Hunter's favorite kitty toys are a cat spring or pouncing on a toy as it dangles from a cat wand. He takes off and moves through the air like a bird to hunt and attack the cat spring on the floor! Hunter's ideal home is with an individual, couple or family. He accepts cats of all ages and will benefit the most by having a cat buddy. Hunter currently has a special and friendly pal with kitten Maple. He should adjust well to a cat-friendly dog with time. Hunter is a brown tiger tabby with a medium length coat and flaunts ear furnishings. As of September 2024, Hunter is 6 months old. Story
If you're looking for a feline friend who embodies sweetness and independence, look no further than Indy. This adorable cat has a personality that melts hearts, and she's sure to be the perfect companion for anyone who appreciates a little solitude mixed with love. Indy is a gentle spirit. Unlike some cats who thrive on constant attention, Indy enjoys her alone time. This characteristic makes her a great choice for those who have busy lives or prefer a more laid-back pet. She understands the importance of personal space and is perfectly content to lounge in her favorite sunny spot while you go about your day. One of the standout traits of Indy is her friendliness towards other cats. If you have a multi-cat household, you can rest assured that Indy will fit right in. Her calm demeanor allows her to coexist peacefully with other felines, creating a harmonious environment in your home. Whether it's sharing a cozy spot on the couch or engaging in gentle play, Indy knows how to get along with her companions without creating any fuss. Indy has a special request that makes her even more endearing: she absolutely adores butt scratches! This quirky preference is not just a sign of her unique personality; it’s also a testament to the bond she forms with her human friends. Taking the time to give Indy some loving scratches will not only make her purr with delight but will also strengthen the trust and affection between you and your furry friend.   For Pet's Sake Rescue is a Mississippi based rescue. All animals are currently in MS. Mississippi is overpopulated with too many animals, not enough adopters, and many high kill shelters. For Pet's Sake Rescue saves each animal from a different background.  ***Breed input is required for each platform but is not guaranteed to be accurate. We do not DNA test. We rescue animals from different situations. We discuss breed assignments with our vets to label them as accurately as possible.*** For Pet's Sake Rescue transports animals to other states for better adoption potential. Our goal is to keep animals alive and out of kennels into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Each animal is quarantined and vetted during their time in our care. Each adopted pet is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and has current flea treatment unless otherwise noted.  You can visit our website at www.forpetssakerescue.org for our full adoption process and adoption application. Once we review your application and check your vet reference, we will contact you to proceed. If both parties agree to the adoption, we will send you an Adoption Contract with an invoice. Once the invoice is paid, your pet is "on hold" for you to pick up or we can transport the pet to a designated location closer to you via transport. Transports are arranged for specific dates. We will discuss these dates and locations with you during the initial phone call.  We are currently unable to adopt pets to MA and RI residents. Any of our adoptable animals can be transported unless otherwise noted in their profile. View all of our adopted animals at www.forpetssakerescue.com   ##2100254##

Story
TOBY, affectionately called TOBY TOEBEANS, is a sweet 9 year old neutered male.  He looks to be a black smoke. He will gladly accept any and all affection! He has no teeth and is a little scrawny but his bowtie fits his personality perfectly! He is HEALTHY and ready for a forever home!  His Owner died unfortunately, so he and 3 sidekicks are currently living at Duke Animal Clinic. Such a shame, and honestly, middle aged cats are AMAZING. PLEASE consider scheduling a meet and greet for any of these sweethearts! Tested negative for Leukemia/FIV and shots are current. Also see Ming, Stella and Lunar. FOREVER return policy, FEE LIKELY WAIVED BY DR. DUKE.  THEY CAN DOG TEST IF NEEDED. I BELIEVE THE CATS LIVED WITH A DOG BEFORE.
