Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Say hello to Petal!  This sweet girl became a mom while still a kitten herself, and now, at around 9 months old, her babies are ready to take on the world. With her parenting duties behind her, Petal is discovering the joys of being part of a family. She's learning that life with love, snuggles, and treats is pretty amazing! Though a bit shy at first, she’ll warm up and gently ask for pets—and she’s already happily taking treats from her foster mom’s hand. Petal has been a superstar mom, and now it’s her turn to shine. We can’t wait to see this little flower blossom into the wonderful companion she’s meant to be! Petal is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 16, 2024, 5:42 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Woodbridge: A Resilient Rescue Cat Woodbridge is a sweet and loving domestic medium-haired gray cat, estimated to be around 2 years old. His journey to safety was a difficult one—he was found as a stray with a bone lodged in his mouth, looking very thin and with matted fur. After a trip to the vet, the bone was safely removed, and it was discovered that he had some sores in his mouth, which are now being treated by the vet team. Woodbridge has been a bit of a picky eater, likely due to the discomfort from his mouth sores, but he's finally found a food he loves: cut-up chicken! He can't get enough of it and even enjoys his lil soups, though chicken is his new favorite. He once tried pizza, but when the chicken came, he devoured it eagerly, proving just how much he loves his tasty meals. He’s also been having a blast with his catnip toy and has started showing off his playful side, darting up and down the stairs with his adorable little meow. He’s becoming more talkative, especially when it’s time to eat—he LOVES his chicken! Despite his rough past, Woodbridge is a gentle and affectionate soul. He adores the company of humans and loves to lounge in high spots, such as window sills or high perches, where he can watch the world go by in comfort. He's such a sweet little guy who loves to sleep right on my lap or snuggle up next to me at night. He even climbed up on my son and settled in for a snuggle. It's nice that he's not constantly seeking attention; he enjoys his cozy spots but always comes when called.   He's a survivor and a snuggler, and he can't wait to find his forever home, where he can share all his love and enjoy his favorite chicken treats. One thing you should know about me is that I have been diagnosed with Feline Calicivirus. This is a viral disease common in large unvaccinated groups of cats. Calicivirus affects a cat's immune system and can cause upper respiratory infections and oral infections. Due to this, I will need to be adopted into a home without other kitties or a home with fully vaccinated adult cats .  Woodbridge is from a local impound. Please contact this location prior to visiting to ensure this animal is still available. A paper adoption application will be completed on site so please do not submit an online adoption application. For more information on adopting from one of our adoption center partners, please visit our Adoption Center Animals page. Meet MaxDaMillion, a distinguished 5-year-old with a luxurious coat of medium-length black fur. Max was once a local stray, but he's now ready to live the good life with a family who will appreciate his affectionate nature. Though he did give a little hiss when he first met another cat, slow introductions are recommended to help him feel comfortable in new situations. Max is a total cuddle bug and loves to show affection. His favorite pastime? Lounging in the window, soaking up the sun and keeping an eye on the world outside. If you're looking for a calm, loving companion with a touch of elegance, MaxDaMillion is the perfect match! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. *Bonded to Azalea*This regal girl is the talk of the town…everyone comments on how gorgeous Bluebell is with her beautiful coloring, medium long fur (so soft!) and big fluffy tail!  Bluebell is a sweetheart, a snuggle button and a big fan of playtime! Bluebell’s favorite place to be is on the window sill watching birds, soaking in a sunny spot, or curled up on a footstool in the family room where she can watch all the action go by. She loves a good faux fur blanket to nap on and doesn’t mind at all when someone scoops her up mid-nap for a snuggle! She loves being petted and purrs loudly.  Bluebell does very well with children of all ages and would do well in an active household or in a calmer environment that can provide playful interactions. She loves a good game of laser with her littermates and gets the whole gang going!  Bluebell gets along splendidly with her mama and littermates, whom she’s been with since birth. Bluebell and her sister, Azalea , are bonded and the very best of buds. These sweet sisters rely on each other for companionship so they must be adopted together. Who can blame them?! Family is important! Bluebell and Azalea are a bit timid in new environments at first so they may need a little extra time, patience and TPC as they adapt to their new home. They can be a little shy around new people (aren’t we all?!), but once comfortable, they are so loving and playful! Bluebell was an owner surrender.
