Can you believe that two beautiful kitties like Mango and me were left behind? It’s true! I’m a lovely, fluffy, medium-haired orange and white female cat called Papaya. My sweet kitten and I were found in the garage area of a rental property by the property manager after a tenant moved out and left us behind. We went to Paws and Claws, and because my baby Mango was only about 2-3 weeks old, we went to a foster home. I’m a good mother, but this “mamaya” named Papaya is ready to give up my mothering duties and be pampered! Most of the time, I was friendly and cuddly while in my foster home. I let my foster mom handle my kitten. However, I can get “snippy” at times, so I may do best in a home with older children or adults only. Christopher Columbus coined the term “papaya” when he first tasted the fruit. It means “fruit of the angels.” I hope I’ll be someone’s sweet Papaya very soon! I may look like a lion, but I am as gentle as a lamb. I’m Max, a large,17-year-old orange tabby and white, medium-haired senior male who is one of eight cats who were surrendered to Paws and Claws because our person is in poor health and cannot care for us any longer. Her family is not able to take us in, so here we are. It was frightening and confusing at first, but people are so kind to us! We are all great cats who are loving and affectionate. We like children, and we like to play. Toys? Yes, please! We must be adopted in pairs – any combo is okay. Here are the names of the other cats from my home: Lisee, Pixie, Buffy, Polly, and Toby. As of 2024, Podge is about 9 years old. When he first meets you, Hodge is a little bit on the shy side. After he has been around you and knows you, he seeks you out for attention. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Barkley was rescued from the Austin City Pound on 11/17/23.  He originally came from the Palleton Company in NE Austin.  Unfortunately there are several unfixed cats who have been abandoned and the population has become quite large because of human negligence in this area of Austin.  Barkley is a very handsome guy who is shy here at MCHS until he knows you.
