Story
dob 1/1/16 Mila is shy and slow to trust, but when she does, she is a sweet, gentle girl who enjoys being brushed and petted and looking out the window. She doesn't care much about toys. Mila's former owner returned her to us for inappropriate peeing after she felt she had tried everything, including treatment for urinary tract infections, without success. So far in her TC Paw foster home, her urinary issues appear confined to peeing over the edge of the litter box once or twice when she got too close to the edge. Obviously, something else must have triggered the previous behavior. Whether she had past UTI's that went undiagnosed and caused her pain that she associated with the litter box, or from her past declawing, or something else, she seems to be doing well now.  A larger litter box has helped, along with a pee pad underneath. She has not urinated anywhere else outside the box.  Mila is a loving cat who  who will need an experienced cat owner to make her feel safe and allow her to adjust to her new home in her own time. This pretty girl is old enough that you don't have to deal with kitten nonsense but still has a long and rewarding life ahead of her as a companion to a patient and understanding owner. Story
dob 12/1/23 Please help us find a quiet home that will give our pretty Naomi the chance to bloom into the lovely pet we know is in there. Naomi was a mostly outside cat who came to TC Paw from an owner who couldn’t care for her any longer. She needed time to get used to being a pet, and in her TC Paw foster home, she has come a long way from the unapproachable cat she was. Though she is, of course, well-cared for by her foster family, she’s still not living her best life. She doesn’t really like other cats, but since it’s a foster home, other cats are always coming and going. She particularly dislikes kittens. Naomi likes people and would draw closer to them, we are sure, without the other cats around. She loves to be petted and rubbed and to start up her rumbly purr. She’ll press her head into your hand for ear and chin rubs. She has soft fur and a beautiful face. She’s an enthusiastic eater who loves a squeezy tube treat more than anything else. Naomi has funny little routines, like standing to look out the window in the morning after breakfast and talking in her sweet, tiny voice to something out there. Her playful side shows with light toys she can skitter across the floor. While she is still not yet the cuddly lap cat people might want, in a quiet, adult home where she gets attention and the occasional squeezy tube treat from an owner who patiently lets her blossom, Naomi will be a fine, gentle companion. Story
dob 3/13/20 Barney and his siblings were born on the grounds of the State Hospital in the spring of 2020. A semi-feral kitten, he spent a few months in a foster home learning to enjoy human attention.  He was adopted with a sibling, but then returned recently to their former foster home when their owner couldn’t care for them any longer. Back in his foster home, Barney has blossomed and become increasingly confident, playful, and loving. He’s a talker too, especially when he wants attention. His foster mom says he “has been a joy to have in my home and has my heart forever.” Barney is selective about people, and though he isn’t one of those life-of-the-party cats, he’s loyal and affectionate to his people. Since he can be wary of new people and loud noises, Barney’s best home will be a quiet one without young children. He is gentle, but young children scare him.  Another mellow cat or a gentle dog should be okay after a gradual introduction. Barney is a foodie. He was overweight when he returned to his foster home, but through scheduled feeding and plenty of playtime, he’s almost a healthy weight again. He should maintain a feeding schedule, not be free fed. He likes to eat too much for his own good. What Barney really wants is plenty of love and attention from a patient owner who follows his cues, lets him acclimate at his pace, plays with him daily, and never misses his evening squeezy tube treat. Barney is waiting to live his best life. It could be with you. Story
dob 3/28/23 "When you're down and out. When you're on the street."  These young adult brothers were found with their mother Genevieve (check her page too), wandering strays, thought by neighbors to have been left behind when their owners moved six months prior. Their TC Paw foster mom can't understand how anyone could do that, but now it's her job to make sure their "Bridge Over Troubled Water" chapter is done, even though as she says, the  hardest part of being a foster cat mom is realizing that your job is done, and your foster cats are ready to start their next chapter in life.  Simon, the smart tabby with white, loves life and is the more vocal one of the pair. He quickly learned to trust and loves getting affection sitting next to his foster dad. Funk, the shy black and grey tabby, has also discovered he loves affection, and when he finds his forever humans to trust, he will return their love tenfold. The boys can be boys! They love to run around, chasing, playing and singing to each other. They have learned to use the scratching tools their foster family bought for them. Simon and Funk are quite close, and we think they should stay together. They won't be at the PetSmart cattery, but their foster mom invites applicants to the house to meet them. "Like a bridge over troubled water, I will ease your mind."   If you are interested in adopting this TC Paw cat or would like to set up a meet-and-greet, please complete the  Pre-adoption Application .   November 9, 2024, 1:12 pm

Story
dob 4/30/24 Hey there! It’s me, Odin, your new kitten! You  wouldn’t believe how much I’ve changed since I was rescued with my siblings from under the house where we were born. When I first got here at my TC Paw foster home, I was pretty scared—I hissed a lot and didn’t want anything to do with people. But with my foster mom's patience and letting me come closer when I was ready, everything’s different now. Now, I’m super happy! My tail is always up, and I love playing and jumping around with  my siblings and for the toys my foster mom uses to entice me. Oh, and feeding time? That’s the best time for us to bond. My foster mom used to gently pet me, maybe give me a little kiss on the head, or even stroke my belly and lift me just a little bit, but not too high. I started to realize that being close to my person means food and care, and I liked that! Now I don’t even need food to let her pick me up anymore and kiss my head. I am learning that the word “kisses” before I get my food means mom is going to gently scoop me up and give me a kiss.  I can’t help but soften up because I know what’s coming next. I get so excited! I love wet food!  Don’t worry, I’m not into biting or scratching people—I’ve got my scratching post for that. If I forget and use the chair, just remind me, and I’ll stop. We’re going to be great friends once I settle in! If I hide at first, trust me, it’s not because I don’t like you. I just need a little time to feel safe. Blocking off all those sneaky places like under the bed, behind the dresser, or inside the couch, will help me come out and get to know you better. I might try to squeeze into some spots, but if you put a pillow or something there, I’ll get the hint!  Oh, and let’s not forget my favorite game! I absolutely love chasing the "birdie" on the string you tied to a stick. Jumping high to catch it is the best! It’s definitely my favorite thing to do with you. I’ve become a real sweet boy, haven’t I?  If you are interested in adopting this TC Paw cat or would like to set up a meet-and-greet, please complete the  Pre-adoption Application .   March 6, 2025, 11:57 am
