Story
Meet King Simba, the friendliest, most playful ruler in the kingdom of cats! This majestic boy is looking for a royal palace to call his own—and you could be the lucky one to welcome him into your castle! King Simba adores his subjects (that’s you!). He’s always ready to play, whether it’s chasing a feather wand or pouncing on toy mice. When it’s time to feast, this king’s favorite royal treat is canned food—he might even give a royal “meow” to remind you it’s dinnertime! He’s super friendly and will make you feel like royalty when he curls up beside you or follows you around, keeping watch over his favorite human. Visit today to meet this purr-fect king! Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt. **the below two methods are slower than visiting us** Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.

Freddie, is looking for a family with lots of time for lots of lovins and play. Freddie, came from a home with lots of other cats. Story
Nike is a modern day Garfield, minus the orange hair and lasagna. He is a couch potato who loves to be pet and snuggle Nike loves to bird watch and chase a laser pointer when he isn’t snuggled on the top of the couch Food is his favorite! He does not over eat, but he is a hefty boy, approximately 18lbs. He does have a short tail, he was born that way, but he is perfectly healthy and it does not affect him Unfortunately he needs a new house as our new baby is allergic to him. He does shed a bit which causes allergies to her. I’m hoping he can find a loving home as soon as possible

Story
Emelia is a sweet, beautiful 1 ½ yr old cat with long hair, who arrived with mom and brother, Luca. Mom was adopted and the two siblings have bonded while at the shelter. They would likely be most comfortable in a quieter home where they can take their time to adjust and see that they are safe and sound. A little shy at the shelter, she enjoys being pet and having Churus, when approached slowly. With the right encouragement and environment, we think that the two will flourish once adopted! This cat is waiting for it's Forever Home! Email adoptions@ctcatconnection.org with a question or better yet, complete an application for quickest consideration. (Application: https://www.ctcatconnection.org/adoption-application/). Please consider fostering a cat or dog by applying on our website.A cat's behavior in the shelter is usually not what it will be like in your home; if the cat is nervous, anxious, or agitated, please know that a shelter is a very stressful place for a cat.Kitten Policy: It is important to understand that the socialization of kittens with other animals as playmates is important for their development. Therefore, CT Cat Connection has a policy that kittens and teenagers up to 12 months of age are adopted in pairs unless there is another animal in the household as a playmate and companion.Due to demand, we cannot place cats or kittens on hold. Your visit to the shelter is to meet any cat or kitten available for adoption at the time of visit. If you or anyone you know is interested in helping the shelter, we are always looking for foster families of our cats and dogs, as well as in-person volunteers, to assist with animal care. Fill out an application, which can be found at https://www.ctcatconnection.org/get-involved/
