Story
I adopted her from Paws in 2018, her name was Malala renamed Abigail. Cared for by Stoneham Animal Hospital, The Cat Doctor in Portland, Maine and had a tumor removed from rear upper leg at Casco Bay Hospital. She is loving, fun and is a joy. I will miss her terribly. Nevertheless, I cannot find an apartment I can afford that is suitable for my wife and myself with her. I am a Disabled Vet and my health is declining.

Story
So many stories in the rescue world about cats and they all seem to have the same start all too often and too sad.  This stunning grey tabby and white boy is called Chester, he is just barely one year of age and born to a stray momma cat.  Living outdoors all his life, his momma brought him and his littermates to a family house where she hoped to be fed and to care for her litter born outside a home.  Somehow her 4 kittens survived and here is Chester to prove that miracles can happen for these lost and forgotten mommas and their babies.  Chester is now a very handsome 13 pound boy that has been invited inside a foster home and is being given the wide berth to relax and make himself at home as a pampered and well fed adult cat.  He’s still super shy and will hide a lot under the bed, but he is starting to come out for some play time and chin scratches.  In just 4 days he has made such strides and advancements to allow toys to entice him to come out several times without fear and allow his new foster mom Joyce to pet him and given him chin rubs.  He is learning to be petted and to trust this new foster mom.  He and his littermates are all grown up but very young and they are getting better with the litterbox training and are eating with a hearty appetite.  We feel that time and patience will see Chester and his siblings stay out from under a bed or in hiding more and more as they learn they are safe and have a promise of food and love every day for the rest of their life.  If you are interested in helping Chester learn daily how to receive love and be happy with being touched, then please email us and ask to foster him or adopt him.   Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com we are anxious to find a capable home to love him all the way. Our vetting is extensive: Spay, rabies, FIV vaccine, FIV tested and negative, fecal and dewormings and a Drontal  and microchipped. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.  November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
Sometimes when people say that a pair of pets need to go together to a new home, we laugh and roll our eyes.   Not this time.  This time we have Tim and Rush that need a home that will allow them the lifelong freedom to hang out, curl up together, just coexist together in a home where they can bring love and joy to their owners.   These boys are buds and Tim is 10 years and Rush is 4 years.  They are both loving and cuddly with their human owners.  They are experienced and fine with dogs and would make the best pair of cats that entertain each other and also will entertain YOU!  Rush will talk to you and tell you all about how his day has been if you learn for even the least amount of time.  He will tell you about his day and in turn listen to how yours has been.   Tim on the other hand is a clown and will carry a sock in his mouth around the house like a pacifier.  If you have ever thought of adopting a pair of cats, then look NO FURTHER.... these two handsome boys are ready to make your wish come true!!!  A pair of Prince Charmings!!!   Please is you are looking for a pair of Ginger colored cats then email:  ccrnewengland@gmail.com Our vetting is extensive: Spay, rabies, FIV vaccine, FIV tested and negative, fecal and dewormings and a Drontal  and microchipped. Story
Meet Bigsby, also known as Ms. Bigg, a pretty grey and cream tabby who is about eight or nine years old.    Bigsby is a dog in a cat's body, according to her foster's friends. She earned this reputation by coming out of the woodwork and demanding attention from them whenever they visit. Without fail, as soon as a visitor sits in her favorite chair, she assumes this is an invitation to get attention and sprawls on their chest and shoulder and purrs. When her foster worked from home, she was the Official Office Cat and was often the unintentional star of a few Zoom/Teams meetings; her foster has since RTO'd, which makes Bigsby sad. She is very affectionate and wants to be with her people.   Currently, she's living in a house with a few other cats and a couple of big dogs (coonhounds); she doesn't create issues with any of them, though she's not exactly snuggly with them, either. She would likely do just fine as a solo cat or in a household with other pets. Beyond human attention and the standard food, water and a clean litter box, she needs just one thing every day: allergy medication. She's not exactly 'special needs' or high maintenance; her allergy meds keep her healthy and happy.  She is missing most of her teeth, but that doesn't hold her back in any way; the only concession being made for that is wet pate food once a day with dry kibble available on a free-feed basis.    Bigsby is a fantastic, engaging older cat who deserves her own human to love her.  She is totally vetted and ready for her forever home.  If you think  will be the purrfect addition to your family please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Bigsby is in Tennessee and can be transported to the northeast upon adoption.)  November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
Scooter, Ziggy, Pixel, Truffle, Garfunkel, Pringles, Garfield and Jambayala are some of the CUTEST kittens!! Born around September 13th, these babies all weigh around 1.3-1.8 lbs and are the tiniest, sweetest, most gentle kitties you’ll meet. There are 5 orange kitties (all males we believe), 2 tortie and 1 black and white kitty in this litter (mom was busy!) These sweet kitties were outside initially but a good Samaritan took them in when she found them next to her house in tall grass. They have been well socialized and handled by humans often, so they LOVE the human touch and love. They have been exposed to dogs and other kitties, and after just a short amount of time, had no issues with the dogs and cats they love. Adorable doesn’t begin to describe them – they all have medium length hair and are SOOO soft. They love to curl up in your lap when they’re done playing and purr away. They would do great in all types of homes since they are only kittens, and they’re super friendly, they will be very easily adaptable. If you have young children these kittens would do great with children, but please take into consideration they are very tiny and can be injured easily, so please make sure before applying to adopt your children know to be gentle and kind to them. These 7 are litter box trained and all eating dry food (but they love their fancy feast wet!) They love their toys and playing with empty cardboard boxes. They will keep you laughing and amused for hours a day! If you’re interested in adopting one of the babies you can apply at www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org

Story
Speck is a beautiful, volunteer-favorite, a 13-year-old, long-haired, tabby girl with bright green eyes. Originally surrendered to HART in the Fall of 2021, Speck was adopted shortly thereafter but was then returned to us, at no fault of her own, because her household was not a good fit for her. She enjoys spending time with people, and while she has a somewhat reserved, subtle personality, she likes gentle attention and receiving scratches and pets. She is looking for a calm, quiet home without young children or dogs - but would do ok with cats that respect her space. She will be happy as your low-key feline buddy. Speck has significant environmental and flea allergies which are well-managed by feeding her a special, non-prescription, limited-ingredient diet (duck is the primary ingredient), giving her daily medication and supplements, and ensuring she is not exposed to fleas (we recommend using flea preventative year-round). Speck also is hyper-thyroid. She takes medication twice per day for this, in a little pill wrap or pill pocket. Our Adoption Team will review her specific health needs with you before adoption. We will require that her adopters have a well-established relationship with a trusted veterinarian and that they be experienced cat guardians. We would love for Speck to find a home of her very own for her golden years. Please submit an adoption application and come in to meet this special kitty in Room 1.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Story
Maxine is a gorgeous and petite, medium-haired, brown tabby who arrived at HART in the summer of 2023. Her beautiful coat has such unique markings, with splashes of gold interspersed between the stripes in her coat. She is not a Maine Coon, but she could pass for a small one. Yeah, Maxine has a reputation for being something of a diva, and she isn't afraid to express a bit of her 'tude with you. She used to prefer to stay in the safe space of her favorite comfy bed, but recently we have discovered that she actually enjoys sitting in your lap for long periods of time! She also enjoys playtime with a catnip mouse. Maxine adores attention from visitors and will rub against you and roll over when you pet her--however, she might then reach out and whack you! Because of her tendency to act out and be unpredictable, Maxine will require a calm home without other animals or children, and with cat-savvy adults who have experience living with and caring for cats with strong personalities. Our Adoption Team will review her specific needs with you prior to adoption. We know this special girl will do great in a home where she feels truly comfortable, and with people who appreciate her sassy kitty self! Our guess is that she just needs to be able to trust her people since she was abandoned at her house when her owners moved and left her behind. The new owners were not able to keep her because Maxine did not like their dog.Maxine is on a once a day medication, fluoxetine, to help her with her dislike of the younger roommates. She takes this in a pill pocket with a little treat. We will send you with some medication to get you started but you will need to discuss with your veterinarian if she is to stay on the medication. Maxine is like a hidden treasure...well worth seeking out and giving her some time to shine...Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Story
Sabrina is a beautiful dark gray long-haired beauty that was returned to HART when her owner could no longer care for her. Sabrina is a very happy, playful, friendly, and very smart kitty. She loves playing with the peacock feather and toys that are stringy and have a toy on the end. She loves to sit in the window and watch birds.Sabrina makes friends with male kitties very quickly and would benefit either by going home with a male kitty or have a male kitty at new adopter's home. She came in with Tony, who is also in her room at the shelter, but it is not required that they have to go together. Being the princess that she is she likes to be brushed which helps keep her fine hair in order. She is not a "lap" cat,but does like to be near her owner when working or watching tv.If Sabrina sounds like the kitty, you are looking for, please fill out the online application to get approved. Someone from HART will reach out to you to set up a time to come in an meet her. You will also be asked to meet with the Shy Angels coordinator to discuss Sabrina and how to make the introduction into your home.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Meet Rex!Although Rex can be nervous meeting new people, when he`s comfortable, he`s a big ole couch potato who loves gentle pets. Rex is a very independent cat who would love to just share space with you. He`d make a great roommate! He`d prefer a home with calm children and may prefer to be an only pet (Gets more attention that way) . Although he may learn to share space with a calm, indifferent dog over time. Rex is on a prescription urinary diet. He is prone to feeling stressed so a calm home would be amazing for him. If Rex has sparked your interest, come in to meet him!
