Story
Reba is a survivor. She was found as a stray with two kittens, ending up as a surrogate mom for another kitten and even though she was skinny and missing hair, she was the best mom! Now this sweet girl is ready for her forever home!  She is about 2 years old (estimate,) gets along well with other cats, and has a sweet disposition! If you would like to make this pretty girl a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org  REBA'S ADOPTION FEE IS $75The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    September 5, 2024, 2:05 pm

Story
We adopted Frankie when he was nearly 2 years old and have had him for 2 years now. We recently started being full time RVers and Frankie does not like to travel! It is too stressful for him and I do not want him to have that life. He's a great cat and has never been one to scratch up furniture, etc. He does love a scratcher pole! He has never used the bathroom outside of his litter box. He's slow to warm up to people but once he does he's a big lover. Doesn't mind being brushed (if he's in the right mood of course just like most cats!) but really doesn't shed a lot. I have nothing bad to say about Frankie Fish and we love him very much but with our new lifestyle we cannot keep him. We've had him in the RV for 2 months now and he is not acclimating to it at all. He's been around our 3 year old granddaughter and was good with her. We're not sure about other cats but I think he would be ok. He doesn't seem to be fond of our friend's dogs but there again you never know!

Story
Stormy is the daughter of one of our other cats. We did not have plans to keep a 6th cat but while moving and working, that got shifted a bit and put on the back-burner. Stormy was born in April and is accustomed to both an indoor and outdoor environment. She likes to sleep in bed but go out and play during the day. This is a very energetic kitten who will need quite a bit of stimulation and boundaries (cat tree, scratching post, floor toys, etc.) Stormy is accustomed to her diet which is a scoop of dry food in the morning and again at night but with a large dollop of Friskies can food. She also quite likes her water fountain :) Stormy has grown up with her mother, 4 (unrelated) siblings, a large dog and two toddlers. She is intimidated by nothing. Does not mind loud household noises (vacuum, dishes, tv, trash, garbage disposal, etc.) This kitten will do well in an environment that has some hustle and bustle and a lot of attention.
