Janey is looking for the purrfect lap to snuggle up in. She'll make her biscuits and then settle in for as long as you let her. Janey loves playing fetch and with her turbo scratcher. This sweet girl would do best in a quiet home with low stress. She has been around other cats & likes some but not others. Story
RubyI can`t believe I am back at the HSHC. I am a female, 8-year-old grey tabby cat. I lived with my best friend, Mama, and my original owner until his health began to fail. We were surrendered to the shelter in September 2024 and got adopted on December 7, but after one month, we were returned. Even though I am a friendly, affectionate girl, I need lots of time to feel truly at home in a new place. Mama was older and less energetic than I was, but we had a special bond and we needed each other to feel at ease. We were not given enough time to become accustomed to the new home, and I became overwhelmed and overstimulated. Sadly, I released that frustration on the closest target (my bestie, Mama). Because we began to squabble, we were returned to HSHC. The HSHC staff recommends a new cat be given a small place, like a bathroom or bedroom, where it can go when stressed or afraid. This aids in the cat`s adjustment. If you talk to the interviewer lady (IL), she will tell you how friendly I was with her! I turned on my cuddle and purr motor during our visit! All I need is a patient, understanding person who will give me all the time I require to feel comfortable. You might even consider adopting both of us if you follow the instructions for introducing a cat into your home. 1-28-25

Story
JazzyYou`ve probably heard of cats that don`t warm up quickly and tend to run away when frightened. Well, double or triple those characteristics, and you will have me pegged! My owners adopted me as a kitten from another shelter, and I have lived with my family all my life. I am 2.5-years-old now. Last February, we moved to a new house, which was terrifying for me. The two young children and the two dogs in the home were always a source of fear, and whenever they came near me, I would run and hide. I knew the family meant well when they bought two self-cleaning, robotic litterboxes in addition to the traditional one, but I was petrified by their noise and movement. You get the picture! When a cat is fearful, stressed, and anxious, she often avoids the litterbox as a last-ditch effort to express herself. Therefore, I was surrendered to the HSHC on October 14.I was alarmed by all the new people, noises, and expectations. I used the litterbox just fine but tended to hide in my cubby rather than come out and socialize. For this reason, I was sent to live with a foster mom to give me a chance to relax and be in a home environment. She reports that I am doing better but still shy and easily scared. I hide a lot, but I sometimes play with house cats on the other side of the gate. I remain in my own space but am very loving, craving being petted, and I am a skilled biscuit-maker. My ideal home would be calm and quiet, offering a predictable routine, the kids would all be 12 or older, and I would be given a small space with everything I need as a place I could escape to. I loved the cat that lived with me in my first home, so if you have a friendly kitty, that might be just the companion I need to feel safe and comfortable. 1-7-25

This clever girl has perfected the art of disappearing when she wants alone time and magically reappearing when she’s ready for snuggles or a snack. Spooky is as sneaky as they come—so much so that you might want to double-check under your blankets before sitting down! When she’s feeling social, Spooky is a sweet and affectionate companion who adores head scratches, catnip, and crunchy treats. While she tolerates being picked up during her hide-and-seek moments, she much prefers to come to you on her own terms. No drama, just pure sass and charm! Spooky would thrive in a calm, quiet home with low-energy human and furry companions. She’s okay with calm dogs and hasn’t been around kids, but her gentle, patient nature suggests she’d do well with the right family dynamic. She also has excellent litter box manners, making her a delightful addition to any home. If you’re looking for a playful, independent cat with a dash of sass and plenty of affection to give, Spooky is ready to enchant you! Story
TheoJanuary 2025 will go down in my diary as the year my life improved 100%! I was a stray cat in Westfield when a kind lady found me and brought me to HSHC. Whoa! This is a nice place for a homeless cat (or dog) to land. Even though I was already neutered, it had been a long time since I had enjoyed a pet`s life. Of course, I had fleas and looked pretty scruffy, but I had some nasty ear infections that caused the doctor to carefully examine them. Would you believe it if I told you I had a polyp in my left ear the size of a watermelon?! Not really, but it was very large and had to be surgically removed. That is the reason I am wearing a cone in my photos. They don`t want me to scratch my ears. The medical staff were crazy about me because they reported I was a very affectionate boy. I am an orange tabby with a smidge of white on my chin, probably 5-years-old, with a winning personality. The interviewer lady (IL) found me irresistible! She couldn`t keep her hands off my fluffy coat. She also knew I`d go for a massage on my neck where the cone rubbed. Yep! That was heavenly, and I wish she could have kept going for hours. I can`t really tell you anything about my previous life. But I look forward to finding a loving, forever family home where I can finally have all my mail forwarded. 2-18-25
