A local rescuer was able to get the family out to safety and they later came to The Rescue House. Dotty is a busy young lady! She gets very focused on her daily activities: playing hallway soccer, tossing toy mice, chasing rogue bugs that sneak in, scaling cat trees, keeping an eye on what you’re doing on the other side of that door… she’s happy and bouncy and agile and curious, darting around with quick purposeful movements. She’ll pause to lounge on the top perch of a cat tree where she can observe her surroundings, but it isn’t until evening when Dotty will really settle. The work day is done and it’s time for more leisurely pursuits like getting pets and rubs through her soft pretty fur while you watch TV together. Dotty also loves to lie down in bed and sleep next to you. She can give you gentle love-nibbles from time to time when you’re petting her to show that she’s happy. Dotty does best with people she specifically knows, appreciating an introductory period, and the more time you spend with her the closer you will become.Dotty enjoys the company of other cats and will head-bump them and then rub against their bodies. She’d best like to have a feline friend and has never been alone, though would likely be okay as a solo cat so long as she gets plenty of enrichment with wand toys. She ignores her foster’s dogs. Hankering for relaxing head and chin scratches, she’ll curl up next to you or on your lap. Not only is she an excellent lap cat, but she also has ridiculously soft fur! Just be mindful not to get too close to her lower back, hindlegs or tail- she is sensitive about those places. Tail swishes are her way of saying, “No more, please.” If you don’t get the message, you might get a warning bite to say, “Excuse you!” Playful and fun-loving, she fancies a game of chase with a kitty wand but has no problems entertaining herself with her toy collection. Being carried is not her favorite thing, but she’ll tolerate it for you. Enjoying your company, she’ll follow you on a trip to the kitchen, chatting away as you two take a stroll. With this curious gal around, you’ll want to be extra aware. Silly Maude has a tendency to get underfoot or climb into the fridge if she spots something alluring inside. She also has a peculiar relationship with feet. Initially, she can be very scared of them, especially if she feels cornered by your feet or worried that you might nudge her with a foot. Sensing danger, she might grab your ankle, yowl, or bite if she feels attacked. On the other hand, she likes to greet you by lying down and rolling next to your feet. *** Katy is in a foster home ***White w/black patches Turkish Van mix, long hair, spayed female, born approx. 10/1/22, #18044Cats: likes Dogs: cat-savvy canines Children: adults onlyAlong with the rest of her litter, Katy was rescued from the streets as a young kitten. The family made their way to The Rescue House, and in foster care, they began to flourish. During her time there, we noticed that Katy has chronically weepy and slightly red eyes—the right more so than the left. We took her to the ophthalmologist, and she is on a regimen of three separate types of eye drops administered twice daily to address the issue. Even though things are under control, she requires follow-ups every six months to ensure nothing has changed. With that sorted and all of her siblings adopted, Katy now is ready to find her forever home too! On most days, you can find Katy embracing the true San Diego spirit by soaking up the sun in her favorite spot by the window! (In Katy’s opinion, naps are a must after breakfast or an afternoon of games and frolicking with her foster friends, so why not pick a sunny spot for a snooze?) Speaking of meals, Katy loves food and is vocal about making sure you know when it’s time to eat! Katy’s other favorite activity is playing. In terms of activities, she adores interactive wand toy sessions with you and boogying down on the playground with her feline companions! While she appreciates wrestling, cuddling, and romping around with kitten pals, she also is able to be independent and self-entertain. Adopting this playful sun-worshipping gastronome isn’t just for anyone. She is going to need a very special person who understands that she is exceptionally timid and reserved. Katy takes time to trust and form bonds with people. Not one to ever kiss on the first date, Katy expects you to put in the work to earn her affection and not to rush her as she settles in. Katy prefers to explore gingerly at her pace and retreat back to her safe space (under a bed) when she feels overwhelmed or afraid. Once she eventually lets her guard down, you will see an additional side to her. For example, if she thinks you have food or a treat, she will come out to greet you and do a little dance while meowing! Although she doesn’t necessarily want to be touched a bunch, Katy likes to be near her chosen person and enjoys affection on her terms.
