Meet Benben, a gentle sweetheart with a soft spot for treats and cozy snuggles. This cautious little guy is closely bonded with his sister, Meimei, and often mirrors her every move. Although he's a bit shy at first, Benben opens up in the right environment and will shower you with affection. He'll even make biscuits on your face, drool with happiness, and fall asleep in your arms once he feels truly safe. Benben is ready to find a patient, loving home where he can relax, snack on treats, and be his adorable self. Story
Meet Pekoe! This girl has had some big changes in her life in the last few weeks, and is taking some time to settle in to her new space. Pekoe came to us when her previous guardian sadly had to go over seas for an extended period of time. Sweet Pekoe is a special case, which to be honest is one of our favourites here at the West Van SPCA. Pekoe is a big girl with an even bigger personality, and she's not afraid to show it. She seems to pick favourites with her humans, some can do a lot more touch and pets than others. If Pekoe does not want to be touched, she will be honest with a grumble or a swat to tell you "no thanks!". When Pekoe likes you, she will weave around your legs purring and rubbing her chin on your feet and legs. We know that Pekoe will NOT tolerate being picked up and held, but she will stare at you lovingly from the other side of the couch.Pekoe has been described by many as grumpy, but we see something special in her. Sure, she isn't a cuddle bug that crawls all over you, but she is funny and sweet in her own ways. Pekoe is considered "Special Needs" because she has previously had pancreatitis and now needs a low fat diet to stop that from flaring up. This will also help with her weight loss journey! As someone who works with Pekoe, I love going in to see her in the morning. I can usually see her fluffy toes sticking out from her sleeping spot, and she will spring out of hiding to come say hi to me. She absolutely loves to be baby-talked to, and will melt with compliments about how beautiful and perfect she is. Although she doesn't want me to touch her all over, she enjoys pets and trails behind me while I tidy her room. Come see why we love this unique girl! Visits are 12pm-3pm daily (except Mondays when we're closed) OR apply online! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tabby Weight: 1.4 Age: 8yrs 2mths 3wks

Story
Johnny is looking for a patient, understanding and experienced cat owner who can provide him with the care and support he needs to settle in to a new home and here are a few suggestions to help Johnny transition and let his true personality shine1. Quiet and safe space: set up a designated area in your home where Johnny can feel secure and have some privacy.2. Slow introduction: allow Johnny to acclimate at his own pace. Give him time to explore his new surroundings gradually. Avoid overwhelming him with too many new experiences or interactions all at once.3. Patient and understanding: Johnny may initially be hesitant or fearful. Be patient and allow him to approach you on his owns terms. Avoid forcing interactions and give him space when needed.4. Establish a routine: Cats thrive on routine, and having a consistent schedule can help him feel more secure and settled.5. Interactive playtime. Use toys that stimulate his natural instincts. This will help build his confidence and create positive associations with you and his new environment. 6. Positive reinforcement: Use treats, praise and gentle strokes to reward Johnny for positive behaviour and interactions. This will help him to associate positive experiences with you and build trust over time.Johnny was used to living with a single adult, no children or any other pets for this boy. He spent 9 months of his life being bullied by other cats in his previous home. No outdoor access, he's lived indoors only. Johnny has been making very positive progress and has been coming around great as staff and volunteers continue working with him. He is slowly showing his true colours of being loving and gentle. We know the right home that will continue to make progress with him is out there for him, could that be you? 1.
