Story
We've been told Mama Kitty used to belong to one of our neighbors, but that she was tossed out. We're not sure why, but we speculate it was because she was no longer a cute kitten and once she became in heat, she was too much of a nuisance. Instead of spending money to get her fixed or finding her a new home, they Instead disowned her. As a result she became pregnant multiple times and sprouted an entire colony in our neighborhood. This all happened before we moved in. When we found her, she was nothing but skin and bones with her kittens sucking what little nutrients she had left out of her. We got her fixed along with the rest of the colony and over time she has become full and healthy. Mama Kitty has had a hard life and we think she deserves a forever home. We would prefer if Mama was adopted with her son who she has a special bond with, but we are now willing to adopt them out separately. Story
Meet Cheese a 2-year-old male Domestic Longhair.Cheese was taken in off the streets as a kitten and has been living in one home all his life. He was described by his previous owners as friendly, quiet, and a couch potato. Cheese loves to relax in his cat tree. He gets along with other animals, accepts belly rubs, and wouldn't hurt a fly. Cheese is litter box trained and an indoor only kitty but he does get conic UTI's and needs his special diet food. Cheese loves the squeeze tube treats, laser lights and string toys. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. Story
Originally I took Beatrix in when a friend of mine was looking to get rid of quite a few kittens, and I had already raised a few cats at this point so it wasn't anything new for me. We had a 7 year old indoor/outdoor cat at the house so she had company, someone to play with, and an experienced cat to help teach her manners, etc. Unfortunately he died a few months after and she absolutely needs another cat to play with often. My new roommate has a cat but does not like other cats, especially young playful cats. Beatrix has always been a shy cat but now has also developed mild anxiety due to losing her playmate. This has resulted in her having a couple accidental urinations. She often hides from visitors, even though she is very loving and likes to cuddle up with you between bouts of activity. She is about 11 Months old (born on fourth of July) but is still quite small. This was expected as the mother was a small cat as well.
