Story
Pepper`s foster parent told us: `Pepper is a sweetheart, who enjoys light back scratches and occasional belly rubs. She is curious about my work and enjoys accompanying me through my workday. She is playful and loving but also appreciates her alone time.`Pepper`s favorite thing is playing with any yarn or string-related toys—she will chase them with all her passion and strength! But she`s not so into: weightlifting. She prefers running, eating, and, mostly, sleeping. Her special talents are: digging through all your Amazon packages! Her perfect day would be: a light belly rub and some Temptation treats before sleeping. If Pepper were an ice cream flavor, she would be: coffee -- the way she sleeps, she must have long work hours!Important facts about Pepper:Pepper is shy and takes some time to get comfortable with strangers. She has a history of biting from excessive petting or touching. She prefers light scratches around her neck the most. When you present your hand at first, she shows affection by rubbing her head against your fingers. However, this is not an invitation to pet her, especially if you are a stranger. Any excessive touching will agitate her, leading to a cute hiss and a possible bite. She is very treats-motivated. If she bites, I recommend that you present a treat on your hand. She will eat it from your hand and gradually show more affection over time. After about a week, she let me rub her belly lightly and give her a nice back scratch. If I`ve accidentally agitated her, she bites lightly instead - which is her way of showing comfort with me!She is very playful when you are playing with her; otherwise, she is calm during her nap hours. She enjoys being close to you while you are working. She will lie down on your desk while you work.Pepper has not met children/cats/other dogs whilst in our car. Our team is happy to discuss these topics during your virtual appointment. If you are interested in adopting Pepper, please sent an email to anonytil9@gmail.com to arrange a virtual meet and greet with the pet`s foster parent. You should receive a reply within 24-48 hours

Not good with dogs, Good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Beautiful long hair 5 year old boy, fixed, housebroken. Rafiki is very playful and active. He loves toys and running around the house. He always uses the litter box and does not scratch furniture. He is good about self grooming and does not shed. I recommend putting him on a hairball food. He does get along with other cats, just one at a time. The other cat should be docile as he will be the dominate cat. He does not get along with dogs or children, they stress him out a lot. Rafiki is a nice cat to have around but lives on his terms. He is not cuddling and does not like to be picked up or pet a lot. He will lay next to you on the couch and will play. I recommend an experience cat owner who can take the time to get him acclimated to his new environment. He can be tempermental at first but calms down overtime and can make a nice companion. I would love to find Rafiki a calm home where he is loved, spoiled, and understood.

Story
Male, 2yo, DMH Personality: Friendly, Independent, and Calm. Don't let Drac's name scare you. His dramatic coat is his only similarity to a vampire. He is an absolute sweetie who loves every person he comes in contact with. He loves to be pet and hang out with his people. When Drac isn't cuddling he is working on his fetch game. While he's great at going to get a toy, his ability to bring it back is still very up in the air. Could you be the person to help Drac perfect his fetch game? Apply today to adopt him! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care. Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.
