Story
Calm - Friendly - Cuddly While Baguette started out shy and nervous, she quickly adjusted to being in her foster house. Now she loves getting pets and attention and happily cuddles when her fosters sit next to her. Even during playtime she’s often more interested in giving and receiving affection while her foster siblings are busy playing, although she certainly still has a playful side. She hasn’t climbed into our laps yet, but she’s put a paw up on our leg before and given her loving nature we think it’s possible, although not guaranteed, that she could eventually become a lap cat. Baguette’s fur is extremely long, soft, and majestic and she loves having it brushed, but it is prone to matts and she sheds a lot, so it will require care and possibly regular trips to a groomer. She frequently cuddles with her foster sister Brioche, and they would be a great pair to adopt together.

Story
Wary Crostini is a very nervous cat, and her fosters are still working on socializing her. She came to us younger and later than her foster siblings Breadstick, Baguette, and Brioche, and is taking time to adjust to the life of a house cat. She is making slow but very real progress, responding well to treats but still easily scared and not ready yet for pets. Her fosters are looking forward to getting to know her better as she learns that humans are friends. Crostini sometimes cuddles and plays with her foster brother Breadstick, and they may be a good pair to go together once she is ready for adoption.

Story
Playful - Sweet - Cautious Brioche is a shy, mild-mannered beauty who may take some time to find her comfort zone, but once she does she becomes an affectionate sweetie who loves pets and attention, and the moment any sort of toy comes out she’ll show a very energetic and playful side. She also likes having her long, beautiful hair brushed, although it’s prone to matting and may require maintenance or even trips to a groomer. Brioche may take some patience and care to overcome her nervous nature, but anyone who does will be well rewarded with a sweet and playful friend. She frequently cuddles with her foster sister Baguette, and they would be a great pair to adopt together.

Story
Jax is a handsome long-haired cat who enjoys his independence but is friendly and appreciates attention—especially back scratches. To keep him happy (and your furniture safe), he’ll need a variety of scratching posts and surfaces to satisfy his need to scratch. While he’s a laid-back companion, he would do best in a home without small children, as he prefers a calm and predictable environment. Come meet him today!

Story
Georgette is a affectionate senior cat who thrives on companionship and enjoys cuddling. During her time in foster care, she coexisted well with another cat and may do well with a feline companion in her new home. We would be happy to provide guidance on a proper slow introduction. She enjoys interactive play, cat grass, and prefers wet food, though she eats both wet and dry. Georgette does have some medical considerations, which we would be glad to discuss in detail. Come meet her today!

Story
Meet Toaster Oven! Rescued as a semi-feral catten from South Oakland, this spicy, lovable diva is ready to find her perfect forever home! When you enter a room, Toaster Oven will run up to you to make sure you give her attention and pets. She loves to play with cat scratchers, string toys, and springs. She also loves playing with other cats! Coming from the streets, she is still hesitant to trust easily but once you gain her trust, she will show you the most lovable side to her! Because of where she came from, she does not like to be picked up. She will lay in your lap but will squirm out of your grasp if you try to grab her! With time in her forever home I have no doubt that she will become attached and let her human love her in anyway, including being picked up. Toaster Oven needs a patient and understanding home that will give her time to adjust to her settings and be willing to build trust with her. She would do best in home with other confident cats who can help her come out of her shell. Overall if you adopt her; you will never feel unloved! Toast Oven is 9 months old, spayed, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped and tested FIV/FeLV negative.

Story
- NOW YOU DID IT! You found a cat rescue that’s unique and fun to visit too! We do some really BIG things for the community cats in Pittsburgh. It is an awesome place to come and see if your next kitty cat is here, patiently waiting for you. The big named shelters no longer do combo testing, so if you have another cat in the home, please consider your local small rescue. You"ll want to look into a combo tested cat-to keep your cat from unknowingly being exposed to a disease. The rescue is on the 2nd & 3rd floors of my big Pittsburgh home (I reside on the 1st floor). Set up an appointment to come and visit by calling or text FAON @ 412-863-0064. I will show you all the cats and then you/yours can go around and visit with them. Once the adults are vetted and tested/vaccinated- we let them free roam. There is a large, outside CAT E O where some enjoy to layout outside. There is also plenty of room inside for a good cat nap .All the cats are SPAYED/NEUTERED, dewormed, given Capstar for fleas, have at least one/two FVRCP vaccines, rabies, ear mite treated (if needed), combo tested for FeLV & FIV, and microchipped. All included in the adoption fee. Be sure to look around, spend time with them. We always have cats in a wide variety of age/personalities. Don't forget to visit the one in the corner, those cats need a chance and will blossom in a calmer environment (and are often the best cats). “Feel their soul” if you would and see if it pairs to yours. If you fall in love here, great. If not, no hard feelings. Most people say it was hard to choose. We changed the cat’s life by rescuing them. Now they need rescued one last time…..could you be that person? We hope so. The cats here were rescued from outside, neglect, poverty, or were left somewhere purposely or just needed to be found. This is really an AMAZING process. Come see why Save Our Strays has adopted out over 1000 cats in 4.5 years. We use some of our profits to TNR (trap, neuter, release) countless strays that are too unsocial for a home but desperately need altered. By spay and neutering them, they can live a healthier life & we help decrease the number of outside domestic cats. Adopting from Save Our Strays helps to support that. A little about me and SOS. I rescue and live with the cats, so I am very familiar with them and their background. I have some amazing women that volunteer here and one main volunteer Ms Chris. They help to make this drastic change in the cat’s life possible. We do all that we can here for the cats. Often, we are complimented on how clean everything is. We use stainless steel litter pans and bowls, that are disinfected daily. We feed Purina Pro Plan (kitten)and a canned breakfast with a probiotic. If you have done the long cat application and then no one gets back to you, or the cats already adopted by the time they do, then yinz should check us out. We have same day adoptions. I do not have a long application process. I ask that you are allowed to have a cat where you live and are financially able to afford their care. I ask that you not declaw that cat and if they get sick take them to the doctor. Give the cat time to slowly adjust, one last time to their new environment, so it’s a pleasant experience for all.-
