Atticus' owner died, and the man's widow had to sell their home to pay his medical expenses. Under these circumstances, she was not able to keep her husband's beloved cat, so he was surrendered to Paws Animal Shelter. He was adopted in 2022, but was sadly returned to us a year later as his owners said he always seemed very nervous around their other cat, and he developed issues with the litter box. He has not had any issues since he was returned to us, and he's in a free-roaming adult cat room with 19 other cats, so it's very odd. Perhaps they used a scented litter, which many cats don't like and won't use. Since he can't talk, we'll probably never know what the issue was. We're just glad that he's doing well now. Poor little Trixie was abandoned in an apartment in Urbana after her owner moved out. We were able to take her in so we can find a good home for her. Shes a sweet, quiet cat who just wants a calm, loving family to take care of her for the rest of her life. She's living in the Kool Katz room now, one of our free-roam adult cat rooms at the shelter. She's a quiet, reserved cat who gets along well with her roommates. She does love to play, especially with the fishing pole toys.
