Story
I came from a house where I was living with 53 other cats! Most of us were sick and flea infested. Our owner voluntarily surrendered us to do what was best. Now that I'm back up to health, I'm ready for a new start! Lasagna Larry has been vaccinated, wormed, spayed/neutered and tested negative for FELV which is all included in the adoption fee.  This cat is FIV positive which means that their immune system could become a little weaker than a non FIV cat. FIV cannot be transmitted to humans or dogs and is only transmitted to other cats through mating and deep puncture wounds. It is not spread via grooming or sharing food bowls or litter boxes. So as long as they like other cats they can be adopted to a home with them whether the existing cats are FIV or not. FIV+ cats live long happy lives and usually live just as long as non FIV cats. If you would like to adopt this cat, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays) All cats must leave the shelter in a carrier. If you do not bring one with you, one must be purchased at the shelter if available for $6.

Story
Ruthie is a shy, sensitive girl who takes a little time to feel safe, but once she knows you, she is incredibly loving and wants to be by your side as much as possible. She enjoys being cradled like a baby and loves gentle scratches on her head, tummy, and chin. Ruthie is quite vocal when she’s lonely or hungry and will happily remind you when it’s mealtime. She loves catnip toys and sleeps with her favorite purple purring cat. Because she is nervous and skittish, Ruthie would do best in a quiet home without young children or other animals. She is litter box trained, but cleanliness is very important to her—daily scooping and regular full cleanings are a must, as stress or a dirty box can cause her to urinate outside the box. She has never had issues with going outside the box otherwise. She had a vaccine reaction as a kitten, and her veterinarian recommends she not receive additional vaccines. She has otherwise been very healthy. As a Himalayan/Persian, Ruthie requires regular grooming to prevent matting. She does well with consistent brushing and is typically kept comfortable with a lion cut a few times a year. A groomer who does not require vaccines will be necessary. Ruthie is spayed and microchipped, routinely treated for fleas and worms, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV and heartworm. Her estimated DOB is 11/11/2020. All cats/kittens come with 30 days of free post-adoption support to Petcademy's team of trainers and behaviorists, as well as access to online materials to help settle your new furbaby into your home.
