Story
Salem is a gorgeous, sweet, fluffy mama cat who was rescued with her 3 kittens from a dangerous industrial site. She's so smart and such a good mama - she kept everyone safe on a site with 25 tractor trailers! Salem is enjoying living with humans and loves being petted and brushed. She is still getting used to being picked up, but she is sweet and playful and will be a great companion kitty. Salem and her kitten Poe are bonded and would like to be adopted together.

Story
Like a properly brewed cup of tea, handsome Earl Grey is at once subtle and commanding, a full-bodied guy with a gentle, unassuming personality. For years, Earl Grey remained fearful of people, preferring to hang back on the perimeters of the outside enclosure. When a new enclosure was constructed for our more shy kitties at the refuge, Earl Grey was relocated by the staff in hopes he’d make some gradual progress with socialization. And what a difference it has made! Earl Grey hangs out in the main room of the adoption building a good bit now, waiting on feeding times. A couple of our dedicated volunteers have made efforts to interact with him on a regular basis, and he now allows gentle pets from those who’ve showed him consistent kindness and patience, and we look forward to seeing him continue to gradually come out of his shell.Earl Grey is a cat for experienced cat owners only who understand patience, cat communication/body language and the need to allow the cat to bloom and bond 100% at their own pace over time. The home environment needs to be peaceful and tranquil, with no children under the age of 16. In addition to unrestricted access to a warm, safe home environment, Earl Grey also requires safe restricted access to the outdoors - for example, a screened porch or safe outdoor area with cat-proof fencing. If you would like to meet him, please schedule an appointment to meet him in person and our volunteers would be happy to initiate an introduction. Approx DOB: 11/14/2013

Story
Nala was found abandoned with her four tiny kittens at a vet's office in Mt. Airy, NC. Luckily, the refuge was contacted about their rescue, and Nala and her babies were lovingly cared for by one of our wonderful foster families to ensure they all received plenty of individualized care. Nala is a beautiful long-haired tabby girl: a rare occurrence since most orange tabbies are males! She is extremely shy and cautious around new people and can often be found hanging out around our shy cat room where she enjoys the many perches and the extra layer of security offered by this quieter, low traffic space. Nala is a cat for experienced cat owners only who understand patience, cat communication/body language and the need to allow the cat to bloom and bond 100% at their own pace over time. The home environment needs to be peaceful and tranquil, with no children under the age of 16. If you would like to meet Nala, please stop by for a visit during our visiting hours Friday-Sunday between 11 AM-3 PM and our volunteers would be happy to initiate an introduction. Approx. Story
Stella Bella was a gorgeous long-haired kitty who was black with a mix of gray when she came to the refuge in April of 2021. She was very pregnant when she was surrendered to the refuge by a former Goathouse employee in hopes that she would have a safe place to deliver her babies. Within a few days of her arrival, she gave birth to 4 kittens. She lost a great deal of fur during her pregnancy which has grown back with no gray nor white except the round white dot on her chest, and she is very petite for an adult kitty. Stella Bella remains guarded of people and would prefer a very quiet, patient family with experience in cat socialization so she can have the space and supportive guidance she needs in order for her to thrive.Approx. DOB: 04-01-18Interested in adopting a Goathouse cat? Story
Elijah is a beautiful black kitty with a stubby tail. He was brought to the refuge with his siblings Rulo, Georgie, Nola, Bruce and Puma I. Elijah experienced a bad reaction to his first rabies vaccination, and as a result he developed some special needs. Siglinda has been working with Elijah to help him with these issues, and we’d love for him to find a dedicated foster or adopter willing to provide the supportive environment that he needs to thrive. Elijah is fine around other cats and would be perfectly content in a home with another easy-going young cat. Approx. DOB: 03-01-2019Interested in adopting a Goathouse cat or kitten? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gorgeous Bobble is like a living, snuggling stuffed animal. He and his brother Binx make the perfect pair of kitties!Looking for a silky-soft little buddy with a loud purr and charm to spare? Look no further! Bobble is a handsome, social, joyful little dude who loves people and is a serious lap cat with a LOUD purr. Bobble is young and likes to play, but he's perfected his mellow lap skills -- the perfect companion for binging Netflix or curling up with a good book.  Social little Bobble loves his foster family and other cats. He does not like to be alone, so he must be with another social cat (ideally, his incredibly awesome brother Binx). He's so easygoing, gentle, and cuddly -- he's basically like having a living stuffed animal in the house.    Bobble and his siblings were born at the shelter to a friendly mama cat, so they've been well socialized with humans from birth and are ready to settle in to a forever home of their own. He gets along with other cats and is very comfortable with the friendly dogs in his foster home. Click here to watch a video of Bobble.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 12, 2024, 2:39 pm
