Story
Bilbo's history before he was rescued by a cat rescue in Castile, NY is unknown but he was found trying to live on his own. My partner and I adopted him on a blustery winter's eve. He looked skinny as if he had been fending for himself quite awhile. His age is unknown though the rescue said he could be 10 yrs. He has missing teeth but is still eating kibble, though he loves wet food. He flourished in our home. He gained weight and his fur thickened. After spending 2 years with us, my partner's health deteriorated. After about 4 years with us, my partner died, which up ended my life. I moved to subsidized housing and was not able to have him in my apartment. My brother who lives close by has been fostering him, but can't keep him. His shots are up to date and he has been neutered. He loves to play with toys and loves being brushed.

Story
VIP CATS PROGRAM(Very Introverted Personalities)Some of our longest shelter residents are shy cats. Once given the benefit of time to get to know you, they make friends. Most love and enjoy pets and spending time with their special humans, but prefer not to be picked up and held. All have outstanding personalities!!! Some prefer and have a special feline friend they snuggle with and cannot live without.Adoption fees for VIP CATS are only $35 (standard adoption policies apply).Interested adopter`s should email info@fingerlakesspca.org or message our Facebook page for more info., to confirm the continued adoption availability of a particular cat and for an application (or you can stop by our shelter on 72 Cameron Street in Bath) to pick one up. Adoption visits for VIP CATS are by appointment only. VIP PROGRAM CATS are best suited to quiet cat experienced homes.

Story
Joyful Rescues is considering Tom to be a sanctuary kitty with us.  It's not that he is feral as are the other 6 sanctuary kitties here that live in the basement, garage, outside, with cat doors open 24/7.  Tom is a friendly kitty, but he seems really elderly and it also seems that he has lived a rather rough life and likely mostly, if not all, outside.  He was not neutered until he arrived....maybe his playboy days were over so he decided to find a nice retirement home as he invited himself to live here.  Whether one of the other cats showed him all the doors or he found them himself is a mystery, but he's not the first kitty to simply appear in our basement.  He was afraid of us humans at first, but warmed up quickly once he realized he was safe.  Tom is very happy here and hangs around the humans when outside.  We have noticed that his eyes seem 'weepy' and his breathing is audible.  Other than this he seems healthy for his age and has a good appetite and gets around just fine.  Just an absolute guess maybe he was born in 2009.  Would we welcome an adoption for Tom?  Yes, as long as we felt he would be happier there than he is here. A cat can live 12-18+ years if cared for properly. Be sure you are able to care for it for its lifetime. The ADOPTION FEE:  There is no fee for Tom. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A CAT FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption. Story
Salem Salem is a toddler loving, chaos ignoring, curious, lovable and tolerant boy. He is down for whatever whenever especially with little humans. He bonds and adjusts easily, loves wand toys, treats, scratching posts, and to be brushed. Once bonded, Salem loves to be picked up and cradled like a baby. He will follow you through the house from room to room just to be in the same area as you, and will lay at your feet while you cook or do dishes. Salem is again up for adoption at no fault of his own. His current owners love him dearly, but for the past 2 months their 2 year old son has had sever respiratory illness and a relapse in his Reactive Airway Disease. The doctors have advised cats cannot be in the household, so the family has made the impossibly hard to decision to rehome their cherished pets for the safety and well-being of their son. Salem is being rehomed with his identical twin brother Sammy. It would be wonderful to see these brothers find a home together, but is not necessary.

Story
Sammy Sammy is a special cat, cautious but playful, friendly and lazy. He does best with a kitty friend. He is a vocal boy who meows every morning for his wet breakfast, and calls out when he doesn’t know where you are in the house. During the day, he likes to sleep in a hiding spot until he is ready for love and affection and then he will figure 8 your legs and toss himself on his back chattering for belly rubs. He takes a little longer to bond to men, but can and will. He knows how to excuse himself from a room if it’s too loud or chaotic. With an outgoing and confident kitty friend, Sammy warms up quickly. Especially if there are wand toys and treats are involved. Sammy is up for adoption at no fault of his own.
