Story
Hi! My name is Bootsy. I am handsome gentleman that is looking for a new home because my mom passed away. She wasn't just my mom. She was my best friend so I would really love a home where I can have a new person that can become my best friend again because I miss that. I never lived with other kitties so I do need to be an only pet. Don't worry, though, I will keep you plenty company so you will never feel lonely. I'm a really good boy with a huge heart. Story
Hello! My name is Miss Swan. I am a lovely senior lady who is looking for a loving home. I lost my home because I was not happy about the new dog that moved in. He was young and rambunctious and that made me nervous. My ideal home would be a quiet and relaxing place where I can get some nice quality lap time with my humans. I get along with other kitties as long as they are also easy going and are nice to me. It takes me a bit to warm up to new environments which, to be fair should not be a surprise since I lived in the same home most of my life. Once I warm up I will show you just how sweet I really am. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi my name is Baz and I am a handsome boy who is ready to find my forever family. I like to watch you while you go about your day. I like to perch up high and see what you are up to, and after a while I may decide to come curl up on your lap! Everyone in my litter is named after one of the guys from Sorted Foods, I am named after Barry, a sous-chef who is partial to a pretentious ingredient now and again. I like the finer things in life too and my glorious long coat matches that lifestyle. I am a brown and grey tabby with white spots throughout my coat. I love basically all toys and cuddles are ok once I start to settle in. My foster Dad says you should be aware I am a toe-attacker and you may want to watch out for that!    I came into rescue with a bunch of other kittens from a hoarding situation where we were all living in an outbuilding, but the owner went to the hospital and so a nice neighbour decided to get us help. I have been staying at my foster's home with several other kittens, and as all our Moms were raising us together, we aren't quite sure how many sisters or brothers I have or who belongs to who, but we love each other and play together all day.    Do you have a high perch I can use at your house?   Baz is from a local surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners. Story
Sliver is about 5 to 6 years old and is a very sweet cat that loves to getting attentin and going outside. Prior to coming to live with me 4 years, she was a cat that randomly showed up at my father's farm. I took her in one day after visiting and seeing she had a broken leg. I had taken her to the vet where they decided to remove her back right leg. Since then she has been vaccinated, de-wormed and microchiped. Other than being 3 legged she is a very healthy cat. I am looking to re-home her, due to her not always getting along with my other 3 cats and due to an obsessive behavior of wanting to go outside. She loves being outside so much that she will scratch at the door and cry several time a day and at night. I feel she would do better in a home that has the ability to let her be an indoor/outdoor cat or let her be a barn cat cat in a possibly heated barn.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hey there! It’s me, Melvin. Life in my cozy spare bedroom is pretty great! During the day, I lounge around, but once night falls, I turn into a little tornado, pouncing and playing with my favorite crinkly toys. One of my funniest habits? Making biscuits! I knead the air while I eat and do “air” biscuits when I’m lying on my back. It’s too cute! I absolutely adore cuddling and will happily nuzzle up for pets—my affection level is long and cozy. So, here I am, a quirky little cat enjoying my adventures. Purrs and whiskers to you! Watch a video of Melvin! Melvin is from a local shelter.
