Story
Paddy is a Domestic Long Hair (DLH), male, DOB: 2/25/19. As gentle as they come and extremely sensitive, Paddy can be a little hesitant when presented with unfamiliar situations but his friendly, inquisitive nature makes it impossible for him to play coy for long. Once confident and knowing all is well – he warms up quickly. Definitely liking attention, he will readily approach people to give and receive affection when he feels comfortable; and with a few soft-spoken words of encouragement he will become quite engaging. Paddy also really enjoys having his coat brushed, and he loses all inhibition when the petting begins, especially belly rubs. An extremely sweet-natured, mostly easy-going, always endearing and entirely easy-to-please cat – he is also a committed snuggler who is social, warm-hearted, and enthusiastically affectionate with people he knows and trusts. Given some time to gain his bearings and a bit of respect for any initial reservations with new people and surroundings, this little doll will warm–up quickly, eagerly accepting and giving affection, enjoying snuggling and close contact, and showing he chooses loving attention and interaction with his people over just about any other activity. He's shown a love of play as well, with his favorite people and toys. Paddy is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active lifestyle; without active, young children under the age of twelve (12); and without active or unruly pets already in the household. That being said, we think Paddy could and will do well in a home with calm, cat-friendly dogs and possibly other compatible cats (we know he previously lived in a colony with other cats), so long as he is given the time she will need to adjust to his new environment and allowed to establish trust-bonds along with reasonable boundaries with other housemate pets. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption. Paddy came to Monroe SPCA as a rescue from Monroe County Animal Control, along with his colony mates: Jade, Jett, Skye, and more. Before they were live-trapped, the colony was not being cared for and in the middle of winter they had no way to keep warm - some were found frozen to death on the property. Paddy, along with all the other cats rescued were treated for URIs, malnutrition, ear mites, Giardia, Coccidia, fleas, and Tape and Roundworm while with us. They also all received and are still receiving daily socialization with our volunteers. Now a healthy, happy, mostly confident cat, Paddy is looking for a forever family who will welcome and embrace him as a life-long, beloved companion and family member, and always appreciate him as the entirely sincere and earnest, sweet natured, handsome feline he is. Paddy currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above. All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption. Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI. For more information message us on Facebook or email info@monroespca.org.

Story
Hello, my name is Bjorn! I am trying my best to be a cat that would be happy in a variety of households. I have a lot to offer and I am sure to be a great companion when given the time, space and patience I need to adjust. I can be rather shy so I would prefer a quieter home without younger children. So bring the whole family meet and see I just might be the right fit for you!

Story
Some cats who end up at HSHV cannot adapt to indoor living. They may be feral (i.e., born and raised in the wild), or under-socialized and prefer little to no human contact. Whatever the reason, we still believe these cats deserve a happy life and that they can be placed with families who value them as much as we do. Adopting a barn cat can be a mutually beneficial relationship – you will be saving the life of a healthy cat, while they will help scare off small, pesky rodents! To people who qualify, barn cat adoption is FREE.
