Story
Meet Ember – A Gentle Glow of Love Awaiting Her Spark Ember may seem a little shy at first, but that’s only because the shelter isn’t quite her style. In her previous home, she was a loving cuddlebug with a playful streak, always ready for snuggles and silly antics once she felt safe and secure. Her heart is as warm as her name suggests — she just needs a little time and patience to let it shine. With a calm, understanding adopter, Ember will blossom into the sweet and playful companion she’s meant to be. Slow introductions and a quiet space to settle in will help her feel at ease. Once she’s comfortable, expect purrs, playtime, and cozy lap snuggles to fill your days.If you’re looking for a tender-hearted friend who just needs a little patience to thrive, Ember could be the perfect match for you. Will you be the one to reignite her glow?Ideal home:Children 12+

Story
I live in an area where stray cats are common. I set up a heated cat house on my porch, one cat kept returning to it. She started staying on the porch and I began giving her food and water. She kept coming back every day, and one day my boyfriend and I decided to bring her inside. I took her to the vet to get spayed, vaccinated, and checked for any health issues. The vet estimated she’s about 7 years old, and it was clear she had been pregnant multiple times in the past. I already have two cats, and while I gave her her own room to help her adjust, one of my cats (who has special needs) became aggressive toward her. Despite my best efforts, she’s been very scared outside of her safe space. She’s an incredibly sweet and affectionate cat. She loves cuddling, being brushed, and watching through the window. She needs a loving, patient home where she can feel safe and be the center of attention. I truly wish I could keep her, she deserves so much love and comfort in her forever home.

Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Sasha is a sweet and adaptable 12.5 pound former alley cat. She has had a few teeth removed due to dental surgery last year. She was estimated to be born 1/17/2017. She came into my life on 12/26/19, she was once an alley cat but climbed into the window of her first owners. She’s very adaptable. She is a loving cat who wants to be involved in whatever you are doing. She isn’t typically a lap cat, but she loves to snuggle in bed in the early mornings. She loves being around her person and will thrive in a home where she is included all the time. She is food-motivated and loves chicken wet food (fish is fine as a treat). She's adventurous. She loves to climb and explore her surroundings, so high spaces and window views are a must. She loves wand toys, tunnels, and "Catstages" dental toys. She is vocal but her needs are easy to understand and she wakes up early (6am) so automatic feeder is good if needed. She may be good with cats if slowly introduced.

Story
My 4 year old cat name is Derry. I love her very much but due to moving and not allowed to have a pet unfortunately I have to give her up. Not asking for money or anything special just want her to be in a warm sweet and loving home. She’s always been a house cat until recently she now stays in my garage until I can get her adopted. She’s very loving and listen when told no and stop. She loves to snuggle and loves movies too. She recently had 2 kittens as well one that looks like her and one that’s grey with black strips they’re 3 months. I will give her or all 3 up long as it’s a loving family willing to accept her. She is shy at first but will warm up to you once familiar. I hope and pray that it is a family looking for a cat or cat and 2 kittens to adopt this would be very nice and a blessing. I love her very much but I know she deserves better. She use litter box and not a bad cat all. Please help me get her or her and kittens into a warm/loving home please.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Due to technical issues with some adoption sites, please email us directly at info@sheltertohome.com to inquire about adopting or to ask questions. Please include the animal's name in the email. Barney lives in his foster home. Please contact his foster Mom at nknapp@sheltertohome.com Barney came to us with a severe wound to his face and eye. He has recovered beautifully and is ready for his furever home! He snuggles like it's his job and he's vying for a promotion. He seems to be intimidated by other cats, but warms up to them within a week or so; he loves running and playing! Barney is FIV+, which means that he is immune-compromised. FIV is only transmissible through deep bite wounds and mating. He won't be seducing the ladies and is an indoor-only cat, so the risk is minimal. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Please visit our website at sheltertohome.com for information on our adoption process.**November 5, 2024, 10:11 am
