Story
HOBBES Male, neutered 7 years old Orange and White Tabby (long-hair) 10 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines Hobbes was found in a feral colony and was taken inside due to his friendliness and is still as friendly as ever!  He is a great snuggler and a constant companion. He would do wonderfully in any home, but especially with a quiet family or elderly person. He loves other cats and kittens, and tolerates dogs well. He loves his wet food - any high-quality wet food would make his day! His foster describes him as sweet, gentle, playful and a fast learner. And look at that handsome coat! If you’re looking for an older, calm, gentle snuggle kitty, Hobbes is the one for you! Interested in adopting? Of course you are! Submit an application here!    February 6, 2025, 5:29 pm

Story
Female, DLH, 6 months old Peach is new to the rescue and we can't wait to find out more about them. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care. Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.

Story
Please contact Lauren McCarty (laurenmc@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Dustin needs a very special forever home!DUSTIN NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Dustin     Best Guess for Breed: Domestic Long Hair    Best Guess for Age: 5 years - Estimated DOB 10/31/20    SEX:  male Approximate Weight:  12 lb 7 oz 1/10 Coloring: Gray Tabby Type of Hair: Long Special Consideration: Dustin is positive for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) so he will need a home with no other cats or other positive cats.  Currently Living at:  Shelter -- needs an adopter to secure a freedom ride I am Looking For:  My forever home! Hi- I'm Dustin - a gorgeous kitty. .  I won’t ask for much...just some love, cuddles and lots of toys so I can run and play and be my amazing self. What My Foster Says About Me:  coming soon! What the Shelter Says About Me: Dustin is quite possibly our most loving and affectionate cat. He is definitely a favorite among all the volunteers! Dustin showed up at our shelter parking lot one day and introduced himself to anyone walking by. The volunteers could not help but be concerned - you could feel almost every bone in his body. He was so emaciated but also so beautiful and sweet! He would let us pick him up and hold him like a baby, get knots out of his beautiful long fur. He got along well with other cats. To the relief of his fans, space became available and Dustin was brought inside, tested, and vaccinated. We were sad to learn that he is positive for Feline Leukemia. It is not Leukemia like humans have, but it is contagious and can be passed to other cats through saliva or body fluids - grooming, fighting, sharing dishes, litter boxes... So, unfortunately, due to his Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) diagnosis, Dustin must be the only resident cat or have FeLV housemate(s). Right now he is living in his bachelor pad - alone. He went from 8 lbs to 12 lbs. He has the health care and food he needs as well as all the volunteers' love. But a great cat like Dustin needs more! Dustin needs his very own family! We have faith that there is a great home out there for this handsome grey tabby with eyes that look into your soul and some real snuggle skills. However much love you give Dustin, he (and we) promise that he will give ten-fold in return!  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for adult cats will be $200 ($350 for two cats adopted together). The adoption fee for a kitten (under 7 months old) is $220 ($380 for two kittens adopted together). If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckycat.
