Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gideon is a very talkative and social fella.  He loves his wet food dinners and hanging out in your lap.  Gideon has done great on first meeting with all most all cats and dogs.  He didn’t seem to like a couple of foster kittens rubbing all over him they got hissed at but no other reaction to others, he greets them with a sniff on the noise.  He can be very chatty when he’s wanting a snack. He was said to have come in the shelter as a stray, but he is too well mannered a boy to have been a stray.  Definitely comfortable being in a home and around other animals.   Gideon came to us in poor condition, rough oily coat and under weight could feel his back bone.  We did bloodwork and discovered he was diabetic.  Our vet said he was a good candidate for Bexacat the daily pill.  We also have him on a lower carbohydrate food.  He gets a can of pate twice a day, on top of bis breakfast i put his pill and watch to ensure he eats it. He also has dry food available to snack on as needed throughout the day.  He has done well on it and agreed by vet he is ready for adoption.  He has gained weight and his coat is coming in beautifully. His adopted family should be familiar with the diabetes symptoms and what to look for as warning signs in need of veterinary visits/treatment.  Would also be beneficial if comfortable with being able to check ketones and blood sugar at home.  Bexacat currently costs about $100 per month, and should plan on $80-$100 food expense as well.  Need also be prepared to have some vet expenses to ensure monitoring his health. Estimated DOB:   10/15/2014 Adoption fee: $90.00 (6% KY sales tax included)  We would love to hear from you! Story
Leo was adopted at six months old. We have had him for 11 years. He is sweet, beautiful, cautious, loving, anxious, silly, and slowing down in his old age. From the beginning, he has had some chronic issues, mostly to do with inflammation of some sort. He gets meds every night to control vomiting and he eats special food to control urinary tract issues. We will always love Leo but we unfortunately must make the decision to rehome him. Financially, it has been a hardship. And soon we will be relocating where pets are not allowed. We hope Leo can find a quiet home to live out his senior days in a loving environment. A home with little to no pets or children would be ideal. He has not shown aggression but becomes anxious. He does well in very calm situations and with someone willing to give his head a good scratch. If you love old, sweet cats and you have a desire to care for one in his final years (and have the ability to do so financially) then Leo may be the pet for you!

Story
Zane - Black male & Marigold - orange female. Will work for food! These two are semi- social. They will be aloof and not lap cats. We think a shop or nice facility where they have access to daily food will be ideal for them. They are somewhat dependent on each other for contentment. They have lived indoors for a couple of months since being brought to safety from being strays near a busy road. Marigold is about 6 months old and Zane a young adult. They are in great shape. They pair can be adopted for $100. Spay, neuter and vaccines included. The over population is very real. Please consider adoption to save a life! Fees for cats are $90. This includes spay or neuter, vaccines and worming. We are not set up for credit or debit payments. Cash & checks are accepted. After hours appts can sometimes be made to view pets with an approved application. Advance notice is recommended. Applications are required and can be requested by emailing fopcpky@gmail.com or downloading from the website: www.fopcp.org As a back up to help answer questions, speak with Teresa at 859-948-0371. Our shelter phone is currently down. Shelter location is 121 Echo Hollow Rd, Clay City. KY. We are 45 mins east of Lexington, Ky.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Reagan is best described as independent. He does not liked to be touched or approached. You may be able to look at him without upsetting him, however. He would do best in a home with someone who wants a cat, but doesn't want to see it or interact with it. He does require food, water and a clean litter box though. So he's a lot like a 15 year-old.
