This cat came from a situation where they did not get the socialization that house cats typically get from a young age. Lots of handling, playing with hands, and excessive petting can cause them to overstimulate, which can result in scratching and/or biting. This cat is looking for experienced cat owners who will watch this cat's body language while interacting to note signs of overstimulation (tail waving, fur rippling, dilated pupils, ears turned back and quick body movements) and be willing to respect their boundaries. This cat will also benefit from interactive toys such as wands and ball spinners while playing. We are happy to speak with you more when you visit and can provide post-adoption resources. Hi! I’m Aphrodite, and I’m a total gem! I’m a year old and looking for my forever home. I love cuddling with my foster mom and taking naps in her arms as often as I can. Being the center of attention is my favorite, and I adore all the love and pets I can get! I’m a pretty chill cat who loves relaxing in the sun and soaking up the warmth. I may not play much with toys, but I’m happy to watch the world go by from a window perch while I nap. I’m also fluffy and love being brushed — I do think of myself as a princess, after all! I prefer a home where I’m the only cat. I can get overstimulated and a little scared if there’s more than one cat around, so I’d do best in a calm, quiet environment. My first year was a bit unstable, and I’m still working through some anxiety, but once I trust you, I’ll love you deeply and loyally.
