Story
Meet Andy! This big guy is an adult cat with a big heart, relaxed demeanor, and loving spirit. He is an affectionate feline who enjoys cozy time by sunning through a window & back scratches are number one in his book! While he's not enjoying nap time, you can help him engage in another favorite activity: playtime with toys on a string! Hiding and pouncing on those are an enjoyable task for this guy. While he has been around other animals (cats & dogs) we think he would prefer a home as the only pet. He's a bit territorial when it comes to sharing his space with other animals, which has led to some bathrrom-related challenges in the past. However, in a home where he can be the center of attention, we feel he would thrive as a well behaved kitty cat. A calm home is what he's used to most. If you are in a position to give a furry friend in need an adoptive home, he will return the favor as your loyal companion! Come meet this sweet boy today, Andy might just be the perfect match!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Dewlanna is a beautiful longhaired female Torbie/Tabby! She was found just outside of Evansdale, and was probably dumped. A kind lady took her in and contacted Evansdale animal control. Dewlanna is a wonderful Momma - she came into LHAR in mid-March 2023, with kittens just a few days old, and also ended up about a week later being a surrogate to a couple other abandoned kittens. When she came to her foster home, she was so afraid, and cowered if anyone tried to pet her, so holding her was out of the question. *** Fast forward to June 2023... Thanks to a very special young girl, Dewlanna started to come out of her shell and she finally let us pet her head and face, and within a short period of time she trusted her foster family enough to let them pet her all over! She started to enjoy life and really turned into an incredibly loving kitty and there was no turning back for her! .............................................................................................................. Dewlanna kittens have all been adopted! Dewlanna was spayed and was given her FVRCP and rabies vaccinations; she was microchipped and was tested for FeLV/FIV. Thankfully she was negative for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) but she did test positive for FIV. FIV is the Feline Immune Deficiency Virus, but don't let that scare you; you can research this topic online as there is a lot of valuable and interesting information to read through to learn about this virus. It is not easily spread and they can live in harmony with other FIV+ cats; however, you will need to keep an eye on her for any signs of illness as she would need to be seen ASAP by your veterinarian. The Iowa Humane Alliance noted on her medical paperwork that she had early stomatitis present and was missing all her incisors, as well as an ulcerated mass in her mouth due to bacteria in her mouth. It was removed when cleaned with chlorhexidine and she was given an antibiotic injection of Polyflex to help address dental concerns. Upon receiving that news, LHAR got her in to our local partner veterinarian office and she had several teeth pulled and other dental work done! She's been doing well and is not on any medication, and currently has no health concerns. She eats both hard and soft food. Dewlanna has been fostered in a home with lots of other kitties - from kittens to adults, and there are friends and family members - including little kids who visit often, so she's used to commotion and has decided to be a sweet and loving girl! She still isn't a real lap cat, but she loves to sleep right next to you and she LOVES attention when you first go to bed! She runs and plays with the cats/kittens and enjoys playing with toys, too! (Dogs are unknown) SO... If you have room in your heart and your home, please consider giving this beauty a loving home! Dewlanna's’s adoption fee is $85. Last Hope requires all pets in the adopters home are always kept current on vaccinations and are seen yearly for wellness exams with the family veterinarian, and they must be kept as indoor pets only.  Potential adopters must be at least 21 years old to adopt an animal. If you are interested in meeting sweet Dewlanna, please fill out an application on our website at www.adopthope.org. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Jessa is a young, long haired tortoiseshell kitty is a perfect combination of sugar and spice – with a touch of harmless “tortitude” but also soft-spoken sweetness, too. She was found outside in late winter as a youngster – cold, thin, and hungry. Since coming to Last Hope, she has been enjoying the safe and warm indoor life and making new cat and kitten friends. She has a quiet and soft-mannered demeanor. Although a quiet cat, Jessa has her affectionate and playful moments. She tends to seek out affection on her own terms, and is not at all “clingy,” but when she wants pets, she wants pets and thoroughly enjoys them! She enjoys wand toys, catnip mice, and even some playful wrestling and bunny kicking with her cat roommates – the ones that tolerate it anyways. Jessa is a little timid with new people at first, but once she warms up to someone, she is a loyal friend. She might put on a bit of a grumbly show (that tortitude!) with new cats at first, just to establish that she is royalty and shall be treated as such, but she comes around with slow and proper introductions and actually seems to enjoy the company of other cats. Although Jessa would play with and groom much younger kittens, she seems to be particularly good friends with the adult male cats she has been roommates with, and especially her roommate Harry. Harry is a former tomcat that she quickly put in his place with her sass and ‘tude. Once Harry learned that Jessa was Boss Cat, they’ve been best friends ever since. They are often found playing or napping together. Jessa would be happiest in a low-key household without rambunctious younger children or bouncy pups. She tolerates both, but often gets overwhelmed by too much commotion when it occurs and will hide. Because of Jessa’s gorgeous long coat, she will need her humans to be dedicated to occasionally brushing her coat and monitoring for mats in her fur. Jessa is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, flea treated, and has tested negative for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Her adoption fee is $100. This covers her spay, current vaccinations, FeLV/FIV test, microchip, deworming, and monthly flea treatments. Last Hope requires that all cats be kept current on vaccinations and are *indoor* pets only.  If you are interested in meeting this sweet and spicy Tortie, please fill out an application on our website.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 5, 2024, 1:45 pm
