Story
BeauI`m closing in on my one-year anniversary with the HSHC! I was picked up in Carmel as a stray kitty on Halloween 2023. I was given a complete check-up, my live fleas were treated, and I was neutered, but I was not a happy camper! I went to live in a foster home to learn to trust people and relax. I have had three foster homes since arriving, which has made all the difference in my personality and confidence. I used to be such a scaredy cat and would freeze whenever I was startled. But according to my current foster mom, I have come out of my shell! My favorite things include food and treats, snuggling at night, and immediately upon waking up in the morning, making biscuits and being my foster mom`s shadow. I like to be right near her. I am also a talker and singer of meows. Now, I still do not like cats! But I have gotten along swimmingly with the 8-year-old female pitbull mix in the home. We lay near each other, touch our noses, and never fight. I am a sweet-natured cat who adores being close to my humans, whether it`s sleeping, cuddling, or just being in the same room. As I approach my 7th year, I`m more than ready to find my forever home. I must be the only feline in the house, but I promise to shower my humans with all the love and affection I have to give. I am fully prepared and excited to be adopted, so alert the potential adopters! 10-22-24

Story
George & Bootsy You may remember us from our interview in January. We are a unique bonded couple who met on a blind date. Bootsy, at 13-years-old, is the elder of us, and I, at just 12, am the younger. We`ve been through a lot, including a period of illness, and were fortunate to spend time with a wonderful foster mom. Here is a summary of her feedback on our special bond. George and Bootsy were my first elderly cat fosters and my first time fostering a bonded pair. Despite their illness, they showed remarkable resilience and were the sweetest, most loving cats I`ve ever had. Having a bonded pair was a joy and blessing! Bootsy loves to cuddle up to your chest and snooze the day away. George always ended up napping away on my legs. It was like a full-body cat hug! Even when they were at their sickest and being syringe-fed medicine twice daily, George and Bootsy never tried to bite, scratch, or even hiss at me. They were uncomfortable, and no one likes taking meds, but they were sweet and quick to look for cuddles afterward. It absolutely blew me away! Once they began to feel better, their personalities shone through. Bootsy loves to sunbathe and watch the world go by. While George is a proper little hunter and still loves to play in his old age. I was absolutely blessed to foster these sweethearts and will never forget them.We are a comfortable couple, satisfied with a warm place to nap, kind treatment, and a loving home. We have lived with cats, dogs, and kids, but a peaceful atmosphere would be welcome. If you are also a member of AARP, you may enjoy company while watching TV. 8-19-24

Story
MochaI am so relieved that the interviewer lady (IL) visited me today. She may be able to make people understand me. I am an 8-year-old female kitty who never learned to become sociable. I lived with my last owner for four years, but they surrendered me to HSHC because I was terrified of everything! The other cat, the dog, the children, and even the adults frightened me into hiding. When I`m scared, hiding is the best solution. But it means that I don`t get to enjoy being a beloved pet. Stress is the enemy of a cat`s health and well-being. It can cause very painful UTIs. Since coming to the shelter, I have been allowed to stay curled up in my Kasa and take my time coming out of my shell. I often sleep all day. Today, the IL spoke quietly, and I let her touch my cheek. It was so pleasurable I let her pet me all over. I stood up in my Kasa so she could reach more spots and purred to myself. I contorted my body into so many positions but didn`t take a step out of my Kasa. I had not touched any of the three bowls of food. You could call me the biggest scaredy-cat of the century! But this is NOT what I want! I want to be relaxed and confident when I am with people. I want to learn to be social and outgoing. This will take a patient person who understands my fears and will give me the time and space to settle in. A quiet home, where everyone is 10 or older, is a must. I would appreciate being the only 4-legged family member, at least for a while. The IL knows that I crave affection and attention. Now, I need to find an owner to help me become the cat I want to be. 8-28-24

Story
CallieYou probably didn`t know I was originally from Idaho, the Gem State! So, I like to think of myself as a true gem of a cat. My former name was Madame Fluff, which seems very appropriate. I am nearly 9-years-old, and my latest owner had me for a year, but I was surrendered due to allergies. My newest name would indicate that I am a Calico cat. But I feel I am more like a long-haired Torbie. I recall that I enjoy the company of kids and love being held and playing with my human. My medical examination revealed that I have a common condition called Hyperthyroidism. It was apparent to the staff that my low weight and unkempt appearance suggested this disease. It can be managed with a twice-daily, reasonably priced medication. It can be given as a tablet or a gel that is wiped on my ears. With proper care, I can live a long, healthy life. It has been quite a while since I have been groomed, and I have loads of mats throughout my coat. But the interviewer lady soon found out that I am a love bug. I went right up to her and snuggled close to her shoulder. I crave affection and attention, and my sweet personality makes it easy to provide these. I may not be the largest kitty in the cattery, but I am one of the loveiest. I look forward to meeting my forever owner asap! 8-30-24
