Story
George & Bootsy You may remember us from our interview in January. We are a unique bonded couple who met on a blind date. Bootsy, at 13-years-old, is the elder of us, and I, at just 12, am the younger. We`ve been through a lot, including a period of illness, and were fortunate to spend time with a wonderful foster mom. Here is a summary of her feedback on our special bond. George and Bootsy were my first elderly cat fosters and my first time fostering a bonded pair. Despite their illness, they showed remarkable resilience and were the sweetest, most loving cats I`ve ever had. Having a bonded pair was a joy and blessing! Bootsy loves to cuddle up to your chest and snooze the day away. George always ended up napping away on my legs. It was like a full-body cat hug! Even when they were at their sickest and being syringe-fed medicine twice daily, George and Bootsy never tried to bite, scratch, or even hiss at me. They were uncomfortable, and no one likes taking meds, but they were sweet and quick to look for cuddles afterward. It absolutely blew me away! Once they began to feel better, their personalities shone through. Bootsy loves to sunbathe and watch the world go by. While George is a proper little hunter and still loves to play in his old age. I was absolutely blessed to foster these sweethearts and will never forget them.We are a comfortable couple, satisfied with a warm place to nap, kind treatment, and a loving home. We have lived with cats, dogs, and kids, but a peaceful atmosphere would be welcome. If you are also a member of AARP, you may enjoy company while watching TV. 8-19-24

Story
MochaI am so pleased that the interviewer lady (IL) corresponded with my foster mom. She can post an updated story about me. In July, my owner surrendered me to HSHC because I was terrified of everything! The other cat, the dog, the children, and even the adults frightened me into hiding. I am an 8-year-old female kitty who never learned to become a social cat. However, since being in my foster home, I`ve made significant progress. My foster mom says I hide in the bedroom throughout the day, but I`ll come out in the evening to eat and explore the house. I like to eat at night when everyone is asleep, but sometimes I make an exception. I enjoy dry food over wet. Since being in my foster home, I`ve learned to love belly rubs and cuddling on the sofa or in bed. However, it is only when I seek it out, not when you instigate contact. I am comfortable with humans if they don`t make too much noise. I like a calm vibe in the house. Toys are not my jam; I prefer roaming the house if it is quiet. I use my litterbox without fail! I want to be relaxed and confident with people and learn to be social and outgoing. This will take a patient person who understands my fears and will give me the time and space to settle in. A quiet home, where everyone is 10 or older, is a must. I would appreciate being the only 4-legged family member, at least for a while. The IL knows that I crave affection and attention. Now, I need to find an owner to help me become the cat I want to be. 12-2-24

Story
CallieDid you know I was originally from Idaho, the Gem State! So, I like to think of myself as a true gem of a cat. My former name was Madame Fluff, which seems very appropriate. I am 9-years-old, and my latest owner had me for a year, but I was surrendered due to allergies. My newest name would indicate that I am a Calico cat. But I am really more like a long-haired Tortoiseshell. I recall that I enjoy the company of kids and love being held and playing with my human. My medical examination revealed that I have a common condition called Hyperthyroidism. It was apparent to the staff that my low weight and unkempt appearance suggested this disease. Hyperthyroidism is a manageable condition that can be controlled with a reasonably priced, twice-daily medication. It can be given as a tablet or a gel that is wiped on my ears. With proper care, I can live a long, healthy life. It has been quite a while since I have been groomed, and I have loads of mats throughout my coat. But the interviewer lady soon found out that I am a love bug. I went right up to her and snuggled close to her shoulder. I crave affection and attention, and my sweet personality makes it easy to provide these. I may not be the most enormous kitty in the cattery, but I am one of the loveiest. I have lived in a foster home, and my foster mom reports the following information about me.I have excellent litterbox skills.I like to be with my person all the time. I don`t enjoy being shut in a room by myself. I thrive on human company and would prefer a home where I can be with my person most of the time.I am fine with other cats but not interested in playing. I`m low energy.I love people. I am a professional LAP CAT! I want to be petted and cuddled, all the while purring.I look forward to meeting my forever owner asap! 12-2-24

Story
Miss CharliSometimes, good looks are not enough to convince someone to continue loving you. Nine years ago, I was given as a gift from a friend to my owner. I have lived with them all my life, and it hurts my feelings to hear that I was surrendered because I was unwanted. My owner added two young cats to the home about two years ago. I had been good friends with the 8-year-old cat but couldn`t handle their shenanigans when the youngsters tried to play with me. The stress of this caused me to avoid using the litterbox. However, I`ve been doing great with the litterbox since living in my two-room apartment at HSHC. I`ve been told I am a beautiful Calico cat, but sometimes it is hard to see me because I hide behind my litterbox or in my Kitty Kasa. I`ve been avoiding eating my food, which is one way I show my depression. I will be happiest in a home with other cats my age or older. Their energy level will be closer to mine, and we can keep each other content. I am a healthy girl, a smidge nervous in new situations, but given a calm, gentle approach, I will fall in love with my new owner. 11-29-24

Story
I am Friskie and my story is very sad. You see I had a sister cat, a great owner and then one day my owner passed away. A nice family member got my sister and I into this rescue. Soon after my sister passed away too, I think she was just too sad missing our owner. I struggled too but decided I could go on and try and find a new family. I have been doing well in foster care and now it's time to start my new beginning.

Please do not send inquiries. These cats can be visited at PetSmart in Carmel/Westfield (14720 US 31N) during store business hours. Applications are available at the store. These are not “cuddlers”. These are young adults that came to us from Indy Neighborhood Cats when they were kittens. They were born feral and we have been working on socialization for months. They do NOT like to be picked up, and barely allow us to pet them. But they LOVE playtime with tunnels and cat trees. ADOPTER WILL NEED TO CONTINUE SOCIALIZATION and BE PATIENT. WE WILL ONLY ADOPT THEM AS A BONDED PAIR. Azalea is a sweet girl who will only let you pet her on her terms. Larkspur will not let you move him, pick him up, or do anything to him, except pet him sometimes. He was the spiciest kitten when he came to us and hasn't changed much. He does not trust human hands. Thanks to our foster Purrcy, Larkspur will come up to me begging for attention while Purrcy is getting his daily loving. He runs off after a few pets. He needs a covered litter box with no door or he'll overshoot the sides of the litter box. These cats have not been around dogs or small children. We insist on a cat-only household with children over 12. They do great with other cats. Azalea & Larkspur are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV and are microchipped. Approximate date of birth is August 21, 2022. Adoption fee = $75 per cat ($150 total)

Story
Casper is 5 years old. I adopted him from an old couple 3 years ago who didn’t socialize him as a kitten and declawed him, so he’s very easily scared. He needs to have his paws X-Ray’d to ensure there are no bone fragments causing him pain, so please do that upon adoption since I don’t have the time to. He’s potty trained and loves to cuddle at night. He likes having his own space, sleeping on the bed and near windows, loves playing and his favorite toy is a feather on a stick from Walmart. He needs someone with a quiet house with no pets, patience (no yelling, hitting),commitment, will take him to the vet when needed, and can brush him at least once a week. He’s the sweetest boy, but can be a challenge to take care of so please consider this carefully.

Story
TimothyMy name is Timothy, and if you had told me that I would end up as a homeless, injured cat in November 2024, I would never have believed you. After all, I am a gorgeous male Himalayan-mix cat. You would think my owner would never let me out of their sight. However, I have barely survived as a stray for so long that I can`t remember what it is like to have a home. A kind lady found me in Noblesville and brought me to the HSHC. They told me I was most likely attacked by a coyote and had a gaping neck wound full of infection and live maggots. I was dehydrated, very thin, had live fleas, and had an upper respiratory infection. When I arrived, they told me I was about 7-years-old, unneutered, and had the most beautiful blue eyes. My coat is long, cream and sable point. I did test positive for FIV. (FIV is a virus found only in cats that can lower a cat`s immune system. I can live a long, happy life [even with FIV- cats] with regular vet visits, a healthy diet, and an indoor-only lifestyle.) Regardless of all the painful treatments, surgery, bandages, and medicine, I have remained very friendly and affectionate. My injuries have been healing well, and I was sent to a foster home to have a little break. My foster mom reports that I use my litterbox without fail. I was naturally timid, and she let me hide as much as I wanted. But after a while, I began trusting her and would let her pick me up, and we would sit on the couch. Head scratches are my weakness! Now, I am out constantly and will hurry to greet her when she returns from work. I have become very cuddly and loving. My appetite is excellent. Although I am not a big fan of cat toys, I think it`s fun to try and grab your hands. I do not enjoy loud noises, such as a vacuum cleaner. I know someone would love to give me a forever home. I will be patient and wait for you to find me. 12-28-24
