Story
Imagine being abandoned in unfamiliar territory with loud sounds all around. That's what happened to these three beautiful kittens. One of our foster moms found them huddled under a picnic table at the local park. She had gone to walk her dog and discovered cats that had never been there before. Of course, no one claimed them. And of course, we know how they got there. Unable to leave friendly cats huddled in fear... the foster mom took on three more lives. She brought them home and bathed them to get rid of the fleas. For now, we will call them Uno (male) Dos (white female) and Tres (black female). We are unsure if one is just a very young mother, or perhaps they are all siblings. They are being worked in for their veterinary needs and available for adoption through our organization. They are beautiful, long haired cats, and we can't imagine. They will wait long to be adopted. They've been through a lot, and they will require homes that have a level of understanding about the trauma they've been through, and the patients to give them the time they need to fully bloom in their new home. Buvies update... she was picked up this morning at OCAS by her fosters and she is already showing huge improvement. This is exactly what we expected to see from her. Every day she spent in the shelter was taking a toll on her and she would not have made it out, without intervention. The group from Urgent Cats of Central Florida do a great job promoting these cases and they are the reason we even knew Buvies needed help. Once she is decompressed, Buvies has a long term foster offer from Brooke (one of our beloved adoptive families that adopted Blossom and Starshine). A small army of amazing people had pledged for her rescue and we have had about $90 donated for her through PayPal, today. She was pulled "as is" so she wouldn't have to wait for spay to leave... the pledges will help a great deal towards her veterinary expenses! Thank you everyone! Buvies truly has a village around her and she is already feeling the love!! Woot woot! ##1992641##

Story
When we first learned about Frankie, he went by the name Grammie. The neighbor had been feeding "her" and she was moving away. Worried about the fate of the sweet cat, she connected with area rescues. No one had room and one rescue even refused to intake her BECAUSE of her (assumed) age.  We agreed to help BECAUSE of her age. Wr dodnt find a new home and the good Samritan eventually moved away and took Grammie with her. She later found out that "Grammie" was actually a "Grampy" and later named him Frankie. It has been a year and he never did settle into their chaotic lifestyle. She wrote us today to ask that we help find him the right home. This is what she had to say: "Over a yr ago I took in the neighbors cats after he passed away. I was moving and there was no one left to feed them. They are older cats and use to a quiet life. One cat settle in fine. But one has struggled. He is the sweetest guy ever. Unfortunately he is scared of everything. He won’t fight my cats but he hides and won’t come out. He was hiding in a little cave thing that was part of a cat tree. He wasn’t eating or drinking. So I started taking him wet food and a coffee cup of water. I finally moved him to a bedroom that I was remodeling for my granddaughter. The cat is named Frankie. He comes out of his hiding spot in the room. He seems content. I’ve brought him out to the living room several times and he trembles. He has cat trees in there. And he doesn’t climb them. He don’t claw any thing. He uses the litter box. He likes to lay by a person. He likes to rub his head on your head. Frankie is about 10 yrs old . He is neutered.. he becomes over stressed around other cats, small kids, and small and big dogs. Oh and although he is to go outside on his dads porch when he was alive, he does not want to go outside. This is not the home for him. I feel I have created a relationship with him. And I love him so much. But he is not getting what he needs here. His life should not be spent on a bedroom with me going in there when I can to live in him. (He is feed and water twice a day) so I want better for him. He is the best little guy. I’m not sure how old he is but with Daphne the Humane Society vet said he was about 10 yrs old. So I’m guessing he is about that age. He is healthy. I think if he ever got comfortable where he lived he would go outside, like on the porch. He use to stay on my neighbors porch."   Please text us at 352-843-6858 for the link to an adoption application  ##2483349##

Story
Rhomus came to us at the beginning of March. He was rescued by good Samritans in Deland FL after being discovered with awful bite wounds and facial abcess. He was in bad shape and they took him to an emergency vet. They recieved a $1500 quote to fix his face injuries. They couldn't afford that, so they got him antibiotics and went home to call rescues.    We immediately wanted to help these good Samaritans because they had tried so hard (already) to help the cat. We knew our clinic partners would tend those wounds while he was being fixed. We had him neutered and his face patched up at Sheltering Hands. He tested FIV+ but that matters not. Rhombus is sweet and friendly... he poses no transmission risk to other cats. He had to see Dr Craft at Access about a month after his neuter because his wounds were worse and he had a URI cooking. With his FIV+ status, we have to be vigilant. Really it just means he has a comprised immune system. He has to try harder to heal.    But HEAL, HE DID! Rhombus has been on the mend ever since. His beautiful cheek fluff is growing back and we moved him to the farmhouse this week. He is an affectionate and intelligent cat. He is people centric and he is BIG. He doesn't have the typical wispy fur in his toes and ears... but he is a SPECTACULAR cat and he behaves like he is part MaineCoonCat. He is ready for a forever home and he wont last long once people start to meet him.    Fostered in Ocala FL. Text us at 352-843-6858 for a link to the adoption application for Rhombus. ##2324895##
