Story
I adopted Rogue not too long ago. She was a stray who ended up in an animal shelter after her original owners never responded to contact. She's around 2 and 1/2 and it's a sweetie. She's a total lap cat, she will want to lay near you, on you, whatever is closest to you. She likes being pet pretty much anywhere once she is comfortable and enjoys snuggles and being picked up. She likes to eat and is very food motivated so please be aware that she may lick your face at 7am to be fed or loved on. She is a licker. One of her forms of love is excessive licking and grooming. This does mean she will nip at your hands, feet, arms, etc while doing so but it's not rough. It's typically cat grooming levels of light biting. I have learned that a soft blow to her face will usually get her to let up and continue licking. I just want someone who can give her more space to roam and let her be herself! She's fairly easy I just want her to go to a good, loving home.

Story
Goku is about 3 years old and is a loving, playful cat. Since moving to DC from Alabama with my partner and I, he and our other elderly cat have not been getting along great as she has aged and medicated. However, Goku is extremely affectionate and playful. He loves sitting in your lap, getting pets on the head, and chasing a string or a ball around the house. He has never had issues with litter boxes or being aggressive towards humans; he is only playful with our other cat, who does not enjoy playing with such a young male cat.

Story
Hi everyone!  I am Abby and I about 5 months and a black beauty that is waiting to be your forever jewel. I am looking for a home with some one who wants to play with me and not expect me to just lay around doing nothing. I love activity because it stimulates my body and my brain and I'm a happier kitten.. I love those wand dangling toys and am ready to pounce to show you how good I am at this moving thing. If you want to know more please email ccrnewengland@gmail.com Our vetting is extensive: Spay, rabies, FIV vaccine, FIV tested and negative, fecal and dewormings and a Drontal  and microchipped. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 5, 2024, 1:27 pm

Story
Male, domestic medium hair, approx 3 years old. Personality: Calm, friendly, independent, shy Greg and his white tap shoes (er -- we mean, paws!) can't wait to dazzle his forever family. This guy may seem like a diva, but really, he's easy to please. At three years old, Greg is past his rambunctious kitten years and would much rather spend his days people-watching from your couch. Greg prefers to star in one-man shows and kindly requests to be the only cat in the house. In exchange for your attention, he will allow you to pick him up like a sack of potatoes as a little treat! Greg's life was saved by Tamara B. and her students. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care. Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.

Story
Male, domestic longhair, approx 7 months old. Meet Pokey, the independent spirit with a playful side! This easygoing kitten is just as happy snoozing with his siblings as he is curling up solo. He loves a good wrestling match with his littermates but takes a more laid-back approach to people: perfect for someone who appreciates a little feline independence. If you're looking for a kitten who can balance fun and chill, Pokey might be your perfect match! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Story
Beautiful long hair 5 year old boy, fixed, housebroken. Rafiki is very playful and active. He loves toys and running around the house. He always uses the litter box and does not scratch furniture. He is good about self grooming and does not shed. I recommend putting him on a hairball food. He does get along with other cats, just one at a time. The other cat should be docile as he will be the dominate cat. He does not get along with dogs or children, they stress him out a lot. Rafiki is a nice cat to have around but lives on his terms. He is not cuddling and does not like to be picked up or pet a lot. He will lay next to you on the couch and will play. I recommend an experience cat owner who can take the time to get him acclimated to his new environment. He can be tempermental at first but calms down overtime and can make a nice companion. I would love to find Rafiki a calm home where he is loved, spoiled, and understood.

Story
Kevin's a really funny and personable little guy. He'll always entertain you. He loves going on walks and spending time outside, essentially a dog in a cat's body. An ideal home for him would have a fenced in backyard so he can roam outside freely, otherwise he gets very antsy indoors. He loves attention and gets really sad when he's by himself, so having kids, or other pets/ somebody always home would be ideal! He has a couple of health conditions (slightly blind, heart murmur, and stomach issues (currently finding out what exactly)), so a home that could afford to accommodate his health needs would also be ideal. He is a shoulder cat and loves hanging off of places! He's also a purrbug, you start petting him and he sounds like an engine! Kevin's a great little guy and my little buddy :')

Story
Mack, brown tabby male , and Eden, orange/white female, met in foster care, arriving from the same shelter and quickly became friends. They play, sleep and hang out together. Mack is confident and very affectionate; the snuggly one of the duo. He loves to be held - tries to talk but only a little whisper comes out - will sleep next to Eden or his foster dad, but rarely alone. Mack is very curious and gets into everything! Infatuated with the sink, when he hears water he comes running. He is always ready to shower you with love. His outgoing and engaging spirit will warm your heart. Eden takes a minute for her to decide that you're safe. She enjoys being pet and will purr with delight but likes to keep her feet on the ground ! Her playful spirit will keep you entertained for hours. Her favorite past time is looking out the window to watch the birds, squirrels and chipmunks . She LOVES Mack! These 18-20 week old friends love chasing toys, especially spring toys which are a favorite, and each other with enthusiasm that only a kitten can muster! Best of both worlds! These kittens are a package deal, and they must be adopted together. Sorry, not suited for a home with small children as loud noises scare Eden. They've been each other's best friends from day one, and are ready to share their love with you. Updated 9/28/24 First free exam at any Caring Hands Animal Hospital also included.

Story
Foxy Lady! She's gorgeous, she's full of personality and she's going to judge you! Seriously, that face is saying "are you worthy to be my best friend?" Foxy has distinguished taste which often means it takes her a bit to decide if she likes you but once she does, she's a snuggly sweetheart. Foxy isn't just a pretty face, she's silly and fun to be around too! She can flip a switch and decide she's got better things to do than hang out, so no sensitive adopters that don't understand a choosy kitty that doesn't need your validation. Foxy Lady has done very well in her foster home, finding cozy places to chill, sunny spots to sprawl out and the occasional kitty friend to interact with. Foxy does have a sensitive stomach so we will share all of our tips on a food that agrees with her to avoid any issues! Children and dogs not recommended in Foxy's future home. To be considered as a potential adopter, complete an adoption application. Completing the application does not guarantee it will be approved. We are an all volunteer group and unfortunately are unable to answer every phone call, adoption inquiry, or application. Please understand you will be contacted only if your application is approved.
