How this pet arrived: KC was brought in by her previous owner on November 4, 2025.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet KC, a distinguished feline with plenty of purrsonality! She's beautiful, independent and thrives when she can lounge in a peaceful environment. KC has a bit of a history with skipping the litterbox, and while the exact "why" remains one of life's great mysteries, we suspect she wasn't thrilled about sharing her space with another cat and may also have some early kidney changes. KC is looking for a drama-free home without the hustle and bustle of other pets or young children. A calm environment and a dedicated "KC Room" to help her reset her litterbox habits will set her up for success. She may take her time to settle in, but once KC feels comfortable, she'll reward your patience with quiet companionship and her own brand of quirky charm. Although she has an independent nature, she may snuggle with you at night, once you bond! She also enjoys receiving ear rubs and will show you her air biscuits in return. Think of her as a cat with main character energy - she just needs the right stage to shine! Don't forget to bring a cat carrier for a safe ride home! Shy/Fearful Cat:KC requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her. Primary Color: Brown Tabby Secondary Color: White Weight: 10.1 Age: 10yrs 2mths 3wks

Story
How this pet arrived:Flower was brought in by his previous owner on December 20, 2025.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Flower, a sensitive soul with a heart of gold who just needs the right "garden" to truly bloom! While he might start off as a bit of a wallflower due to his fearful history, this boy has a spunky side that shines through once he knows he's safe. Flower is looking for a calm, quiet, and predictable home where he can be the center of attention. He's looking for a dog-free environment with savvy humans aged 12 and up who are ready to follow expert coaching. Building a friendship with Flower is all about the "slow and steady" approach, using high-value treats and delicate play to win him over. He's already shown he can be quite social when introductions are handled with care, but he'll definitely need an extended acclimation period to get his bearings. Keeping his stress levels low isn't just about his mood-it's vital for his health! Flower has a history of urinary issues, including a past obstruction, which means his new family needs to be vigilant. He recently received a long-acting antibiotic for a UTI on January 3rd, and his new humans will need to schedule a vet follow-up on or after January 13th to make sure he's feeling 100%. His future family will need to keep a close eye on his litter box habits, because if this handsome fellow is ever straining or unable to go, it's a straight trip to the emergency vet-no questions asked! If you have the patience to let him set the pace and the commitment to manage his medical needs, Flower is ready to reward you with a lifetime of quiet companionship and gentle purrs. He's a special boy who just needs a special person to recognize that the most beautiful flowers sometimes take a little extra time to open up. Don't forget to bring a secure cat carrier for a safe ride home!Shy/Fearful Cat: Flower requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Primary Color: Black Weight: 8.38 Age: 5yrs 3mths 0wks

IN FOSTER: Mies and Minnie's foster is committed to helping them find a new family! To begin the adoption process, please reach out to the foster directly at: lesliesdhsfostervolunteer@gmail.com. How this pet arrived: Mies was brought in by a community member on October 4, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Minnie #968507 and Mies #446698 (pronounced Meece) are bonded sisters who are looking for a home together! They're currently in a foster home and we have had the joy of seeing them settle in and show their sweet, gentle natures. Relaxed and affectionate, they've only lived indoors in a calm, quiet home and will do best in a similar environment - they haven't ever lived with other pets or children. They may be shy at first, but with patience they warm up beautifully. Minnie could use a little diet and extra playtime, but both adore treats, daily brushing, wand toys and the occasional catnip party. They're tidy girls who do best with at least two jumbo litter boxes. Most days they nap together, then in the evenings cuddle on the couch, the bed or their kitty condos. They enjoy both wet and dry food, and "squeeze-up" treats are a favorite. If you think these sweet sisters might be the right fit, reach out about adopting today! At SDHS:Mies has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 11.8 Age: 7yrs 7mths 1wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Henry was brought in by a community member on November 12, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Henry! Henry is a sweet guy with a slow-to-warm-up, then total sidekick vibe. At first, he may give you the classic polite nod from across the room, but once he decides you're trustworthy, he leans right in for all the head scratches. Being carried? Absolutely not on his agenda. But sprawling in a sunny spot like a tiny lion on vacation? Now that is his specialty. Henry is on the lookout for a home where he can chill out, claim the best sunbeams and quietly supervise life's activities. He brings calm energy, soft paws and excellent sunbathing skills to the table. He does have a quiet heart murmur, so we recommend following up with your vet to keep him happy and healthy. If you're ready for a mellow buddy with a sprinkle of charm and a strong appreciation for relaxation, Henry might be the cat for you. When it's time to bring him home, don't forget a large, secure carrier - Henry appreciates a safe, roomy ride! At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. This pet is now ready for adoption! Primary Color: Blue Weight: 13.8 Age: 10yrs 2mths 2wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Nala was brought in by a community member on August 22, 2025.Why this pet is the one for you:Nala is a slightly fluffy, gentle soul who is searching for her next throne: a cozy sofa or bed where she can lounge beside her favorite human. She's an affectionate, sweet cat who loves being close to her person and will happily magnet herself to you during TV time or bedtime. Nala has a great appetite and is very food-motivated. She adores wet food and always finishes it quickly. With dry food, she has preferences-if she likes the flavor, it's gone in no time; if not, she may leave a few leftovers. She's excellent at communicating when she's hungry, often vocalizing and leading you straight to her "dining room" to make sure you don't forget. During the day, Nala is an expert napper and is perfectly content entertaining herself, making her a wonderful companion for someone who works full-time. When you come home, she'll be there to greet you with a reminder that it's dinnertime. Nala is friendly, easygoing, and very affectionate when handled respectfully. She loves gentle pets on her head and back and often rolls over in happiness-though she prefers her belly admired, not touched. If her boundaries are crossed, she may gently tap your hand to let you know. One thing she feels strongly about: she really does not like being picked up. Being lifted is scary and stressful for her, and too much of it can make her upset, so she's best suited for someone who enjoys bonding at ground level or on the couch. She does best in a calm environment. Loud visitors, fast movements, or barking dogs outside can frighten her, causing her to hide. However, with gentle, quiet people who approach slowly, she's willing to give them a chance and warm up at her own pace. Overall, Nala is a deeply sweet and healing presence-an affectionate companion who enjoys following you around, lounging beside you, and soaking up gentle affection. She will need a quiet space to acclimate in a new home and a dental check-up in the future, so her adopter should be prepared to follow up with a veterinarian. If you're a calm, kind soul looking for a loving cat to snuggle with on the sofa or in bed, Nala may be your perfect match. Primary Color: Brown Tabby Secondary Color: White Weight: 16.6 Age: 11yrs 5mths 1wks

How this pet arrived: Petunia was brought in by her previous owner on October 10, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Petunia! Petunia is a quiet gal with big main-character energy... once she feels comfortable. At first she may be a bit mysterious, but with patience and a calm home, her sweet personality shines. Once she settles in, she becomes a gentle, affectionate girl who happily follows her people from room to room like a tiny supervisor, quietly keeping tabs on your day. She has a calm, peaceful demeanor and loves pets and attention on her own terms. Petunia is happiest lounging in a sunny window, birdwatching and enjoying the view. While she adores being near her people, she prefers not to be picked up and would rather keep all four paws on the ground. She's not looking to share the spotlight - solo star roles only, please. Petunia recently had some teeth extracted and is healing well. She will need another dental check with radiographs in about a year. If you're into peaceful vibes and being quietly adored by a cat with excellent taste, Petunia might just be your perfect match. Don't forget to bring a carrier - Petunia insists on traveling in style (and with minimal fuss)! At SDHS:Petunia has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Petunia is now ready for her new home!
