Story
Minerva, who prefers the less formal "Minnie, is a sweet and sensitive 4-year-old longhaired tortoiseshell looking for a very patient adopter with experience helping shy cats gain confidence. Minnie lost the only home she knew when her elderly guardian was moved to a residence that did not allow pets. She is doing her best to overcome this traumatic experience, but she is very slow to adjust to new new places and new people. It took 18 months in foster care before she was brave enough to sit on her foster mom's lap, but now lap time is part of her daily routine, and she enjoys her evening bonding time, purring with contentment. Once you have earned Minnie's trust, she's a gentle companion with excellent litter box manners, a healthy appetite and good grooming skills. A successful match for Minnie would include a quiet indoor-only household with no children. She would be happy as a single pet, or might do fine with a gentle cat or dog that did not expect her to play or interact. She feels most comfortable in small spaces and though she does enjoy a cat tree and a window view, she spends quite a bit of time in her cozy box hideaway. Minnie does not like to be picked up, and will likely always have to be mildly sedated before going to vet appointments. She takes a daily anti-anxiety medication, and she is on prescription wet food for urinary health. Shy cats need and deserve love too, and Minnie is looking for a special person that will give her the time and compassion she needs to adjust to a new forever home.

Story
Introducing Watson! This talkative boy was recently returned to AFRP with his adoptive brother Chip due to no fault of their own after being adopted from us as kittens! Watson is quite a lively and talkative kitty who loves to let you know when it's time to play or get pets, both are frequent requests! Watson's playful side often leads to daytime zoomies, and his happy trills are sure to bring a smile to your face. Watson has been totally happy playing with a simple piece of string, will try out almost any toy, and has recently decided that a Kong cat brush is the best thing ever invented - purr, trill, look sideways and meow loudly at foster mom if she stops brushing! Both cats accommodate their foster mom's morning coffee time, but Watson can't understand why she might later be on a computer instead of playing with him ... so he creates his own games to lure her away. Watson also chatters (specifically) at the sight of crows. Watson is bonded with his brother Chip and must be adopted with him! He and his brother both enjoy lounging on cat trees and towers, and they love watching 'cat TV'-birds, squirrels, and people walking their dogs through the window or sliding door. They even show off their hunting skills by chasing the occasional fly around the apartment! Watson's preferred home is with adult adopters or families with cat-savvy children over 15. It is unknown at this time how he would do with other animals in the home as he has only been housed with Chip. Watson is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our online dog application.

Story
Come on in to the Owl House and give a warm hello to the adorable Hooty and Owlberta! We found these two adorable sisters as kittens abandoned and struggling, so we took them in and just look at them now! They are the closest of sisters, yet in some ways couldn’t be more opposite and complimentary too! Owlberta is short hair and very much a cat’s cat. She loves hanging out with other cats (not just her sister) and she loves playing, hunting, or chasing after her friends. Occasionally, she’ll be willing to grace a human with her presence, but she would much prefer the company of other cats instead and, if anything, you’ll be lucky to catch a glimpse of her as she’s playing. Her long-haired sister Hooty is in some ways the polar opposite, at least when it comes to humans: she will immediately run up for love, push against you for pets, or if you’re leaning back in a chair, she will gladly put her paws on your chest and demand your full love and attention! Yet she loves to play with other cats too, especially but not exclusively with her sister. While you won’t always find them hanging out with each other, they will absolutely play or wander together, and if you separate them, they will both let you know how unhappy they are, so we consider Hooty and Owlberta a bonded pair and need to be adopted together. They might be yin and yang in personality, but these two quirky sisters deserve to find a loving furever home, so will it be yours? They are spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and ready to go today! Hooty and Owlberta are about 1 year old.
