Story
Meet Sunset! This sweet long haired tabby came to the Shelter as a stray with her littermates. Her littermates have been adopted. Thankfully Sunset has a wonderful foster parent who offerred to take her in so she could gain some confident and socialization with the world around her. The foster reports: `She`s doing well and getting braver every day. She still greets us with a hiss pretty much every time she sees us- it`s like she forgets who we are until we start petting her, then immediately she starts purring and cuddling, very affectionate. Despite the hiss, she has never attempted to strike, claw or bite us. She will come sit on our laps on her own sometimes; and she started playing last night with toys with vigor.` If you are looking for a BFF of a kitten to blossom in your home, come into the Shelter to set up a meet and greet with Sunset today.Come on in to meet your new BFF today at 1001 Rodriguez Street, Santa Cruz from 11-6pm. All adoptions are first come, first serve in person at the Shelter, and must be completed before 4:45pm.

Story
Meet Shiloh! This kitten came into the Shelter as a stray with his brother “Shane”. When these guys first came into the Shelter, they were fearful and had a bit of a kitty cold (upper respiratory infection). With time, patience and some Churu treats – Shiloh warmed up to staff and volunteers. He is still a bit of a nervous nelly and is looking for a cat savvy adopter to help him blossom in his next home. Once he warms up, he enjoys being pet and getting scritches. If you are looking for a sweet adolescent to put a little extra TLC into – come meet Shiloh today!

Story
Gamora came to the shelter after her previous owner could no longer care for her. She came with her two friends, Gin and Tonic, who she has lived with since they were young. Gamora is described as playful and affectionate. She loves to climb on laps on snuggle close. Since being at the shelter, she has made friends with everyone she’s met. In her previous home, she had experience going outdoors and is a known hunter. She would be a candidate for an indoor/outdoor lifestyle in her future home, following a period of acclimation to adjust to her new family and surroundings. Gamora has experience living with dogs and other cats and has done well. Gamora and her friends like to play with balls and wrestle one another. At this time, Gamora should go home with Gin and Tonic, so they can remain playful friends.

*My adoption fee is sponsored!*Age: ~10+ / Weight: 9 lbsMeet ROSIE!Rosie's here for a good time, not a long time. She's lived fast and wild for 10+ years, but honestly no one really knows how old she is. And due to some medical mysteries, we don't believe Rosie has alot of time left. She needs an angel. Preferrably one that walks the earth and doesn't have other pets.Pawspice (or Hospice) adoption is a thing. It's not for everyone -- but for some, filling the last chapter of an animal's life with care, comfort, and love is one of most gratifying experiences they'll ever have. We can totally fill you in on the ins and outs of Rosie (including all of her health details) over the phone, but in summary, she has a good quality of life that is maintained through a special diet and a supplement or two. The rest of her happiness is managed by the presence of a human she trusts. Once you've received it, she's a magnet cat. A little grey and white shadow who always reminds you when it's time to eat. An interactive lap warmer who'll spoon you in bed at night. She has no teeth and only occasionally brushes her hair. And if you sass her, she'll sass you right back. She's everyone's grandma! Are you in need of a cat who TRULY needs you? Have you ever wanted to be a savior to an animal? Does the idea of providing a cat with love, comfort, and care for the last months of their life make your heart swell? If so, we need you. Rosie needs you.Give us a call or fill out an online Adopter's Profile.
