Are you looking for a life-long love? I'm sure to make your heart skip a beat with these longing eyes! Hey there, I'm Valentino! I've had a rough start in life as my owners moved and decided to leave my brother and I behind. We don't let it bother us as we know we will find our forever homes soon. We look to be a mix of Mastiff/Lab but the shelter isn't sure. Will you paw-lease adopt me?  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2287925##

Story
Rosie was found tied to post behind an abandoned building. Suspected to be used in dog fighting. I fell in love with her the moment I met her. Brought my son and my dog to meet her and they all got along great. However, Rosie began to attach herself to me and attacked our dog twice, but gets along fine with my boyfriends dog - they play a lot! She has snarled at son. We have been working on her reactivity. However, I am nervous with her around my son. She is so sweet and cuddly - she thinks she is a lap dog. However, she will defend no matter what and this makes me very nervous. We are starting muzzle training but she can’t be in a muzzle 24/7 and I’m nervous about her snarling at my son. She is great with cats needs- I think ideally she would be in a quiet home with no other dogs (tho would probably enjoy play with a muzzle on) and probably no kids. She is on high alert and very guarding of her people - she love her people so so much
