Story
This handsome, wiggly, happy boy is Hector! Social and friendly, great with other dogs, and easy on leash and in the car, Hector is such a good boy! This sweet boy is a LOVER, he adores people, and exudes so much gratitude for each and every pet. So smart, loving and friendly, he’s a dream dog. Hector almost immediately became a rescue favorite, his goofy and bright personality brings joy everywhere he goes. We suspect Hector to be a Dogo Argentino, Pit Bull mix, around 3 years old. He is a rescue so her exact age and breed are unknown to us and cannot be guaranteed. He weighs in around 50 pounds. Fall in love with Hector here: https://youtu.be/wspxBCWCiWY?si=jaaib37JEBeDQQSS In his foster home and here at the rescue, Hector does not have indoor accidents. He’s great in the car, and has taken long drives while sharing the backseat with other pups. No anxiety, or barking from this boy- just a confident car rider looking forward to the destination. He loves his outside time too, whether it’s enjoying some happy little zoomies or romping with other dogs, Hector is just happy to bask in the sunshine. Hector does well with other dogs, though he may bark out of excitement- he doesn’t know he’s making noise. Hector has a goofy and silly play style, with lots of hops, tail wags and chase. Hector is also very easy on leash and would make an excellent hiking, or camping buddy. With humans, Hector is up for just about anything! This sweet boy has never met a stranger, and is so quick to give away his big pittie kisses. Hector will play tug of war, or catch toys in his mouth. He’s also happy to just hang out and get some pets. Indoors, Hector has excellent house manners. He loves the couch, and he’s soooo snuggly. Hector is deaf, which we suspect to be genetic- he is a white pittie, and deafness is common with white pitties. Hector’s foster family is learning how to teach him hand commands, though Hector is a rescue and lots of life experience that we don’t know much about. Hector seems to already know at least some hand signals, watch his video to see him “sit” on command! Because he is deaf, Hector won’t respond to a verbal “no,” but he does respond well to a squirt of water. Water guns or spray bottles will be your best friend as you teach Hector how to be your perfect dog. Hector is food-motivated and love-motivated, a VERY smart and eager-to-please boy that will pick up on training quickly. Hector’s deafness will be his super power in your home, Hector isn’t scared of thunderstorms or fireworks because he can’t hear them. He isn’t overwhelmed by loud, hectic households. If you’re someone who enjoys hosting, Hector is super social, friendly, and doesn’t mind hearing lots of voices or loud music! Sounds like a match made in heaven to me! Hector does have cropped ears, which will deter some adopters, unfortunately. Cropped ears come with stigmas from all angles, but ultimately, the dogs are the ones who pay. Hector will need his ears cleaned with some regularity, but that is the only way in which her cropped ears will affect his life post-adoption. Here at the rescue, he is wonderfully tolerant as we clean his ears, Hector doesn’t mind being manhandled a bit and views it all as LOVE! For more information on adopting dogs with cropped ears, search for #AdoptTheCropped on your preferred social media platform. Hector would do best in a feline-free home, but he’s not too picky about anything else! We believe he would do well in a single dog or multiple dog household, as a family dog or a companion to a single person. Small children may not be a good match for Hector, without hearing, dogs can easily be startled by hard touches from little ones. Hector may be best suited for a home with kids 10+, old enough to understand, and work around his deafness. Hector will be a perfect match for you if: you’ve recently taken up the tuba and aren’t very good yet, frequently host, only drive with loud music, or live in a busy city. Actually, Hector would LOVE living in an ultra-urban area- new friends on all of his walks, tons of scents to sniff and lots of things to do? Sign him up! If you’re looking for a sweet, smart boy with SO much love to give, Hector is your guy. This boy is SO good. Our behavior team is prepared to have an honest conversation about what to expect and prepare for with a deaf dog. We are willing to test this handsome little guy with anything you need us to in order to ensure he’s the perfect match for you. If you have any questions about him, please reach out to his adoption coordinator, who would be thrilled to have a discussion with you about this sweet angel boy. Meet Hector in person in Friendswood, Texas, or virtually via video chat to get to know him better. Please email priya@threelittlepittiesrescue.org with any questions. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco  • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes. Follow our rescue journey through the links below! https://www.threelittlepittiesrescue.org/ https://www.facebook.com/threelittlepittiesrescue https://www.instagram.com/threelittlepittiesrescue *Due to the rising cost of fuel and transportation expenses, there will be an additional $74 surcharge for transport.
