Story
This handsome, wiggly, happy boy is Hector! Social and friendly, great with other dogs, and easy on leash and in the car, Hector is such a good boy! This sweet boy is a LOVER, he adores people, and exudes so much gratitude for each and every pet. So smart, loving and friendly, he’s a dream dog. Hector almost immediately became a rescue favorite, his goofy and bright personality brings joy everywhere he goes. We suspect Hector to be a Dogo Argentino, Pit Bull mix, around 3 years old. He is a rescue so her exact age and breed are unknown to us and cannot be guaranteed. He weighs in around 50 pounds. Fall in love with Hector here: https://youtu.be/wspxBCWCiWY?si=jaaib37JEBeDQQSS In his foster home and here at the rescue, Hector does not have indoor accidents. He’s great in the car, and has taken long drives while sharing the backseat with other pups. No anxiety, or barking from this boy- just a confident car rider looking forward to the destination. He loves his outside time too, whether it’s enjoying some happy little zoomies or romping with other dogs, Hector is just happy to bask in the sunshine. Hector does well with other dogs, though he may bark out of excitement- he doesn’t know he’s making noise. Hector has a goofy and silly play style, with lots of hops, tail wags and chase. Hector is also very easy on leash and would make an excellent hiking, or camping buddy. With humans, Hector is up for just about anything! This sweet boy has never met a stranger, and is so quick to give away his big pittie kisses. Hector will play tug of war, or catch toys in his mouth. He’s also happy to just hang out and get some pets. Indoors, Hector has excellent house manners. He loves the couch, and he’s soooo snuggly. Hector is deaf, which we suspect to be genetic- he is a white pittie, and deafness is common with white pitties. Hector’s foster family is learning how to teach him hand commands, though Hector is a rescue and lots of life experience that we don’t know much about. Hector seems to already know at least some hand signals, watch his video to see him “sit” on command! Because he is deaf, Hector won’t respond to a verbal “no,” but he does respond well to a squirt of water. Water guns or spray bottles will be your best friend as you teach Hector how to be your perfect dog. Hector is food-motivated and love-motivated, a VERY smart and eager-to-please boy that will pick up on training quickly. Hector’s deafness will be his super power in your home, Hector isn’t scared of thunderstorms or fireworks because he can’t hear them. He isn’t overwhelmed by loud, hectic households. If you’re someone who enjoys hosting, Hector is super social, friendly, and doesn’t mind hearing lots of voices or loud music! Sounds like a match made in heaven to me! Hector does have cropped ears, which will deter some adopters, unfortunately. Cropped ears come with stigmas from all angles, but ultimately, the dogs are the ones who pay. Hector will need his ears cleaned with some regularity, but that is the only way in which her cropped ears will affect his life post-adoption. Here at the rescue, he is wonderfully tolerant as we clean his ears, Hector doesn’t mind being manhandled a bit and views it all as LOVE! For more information on adopting dogs with cropped ears, search for #AdoptTheCropped on your preferred social media platform. Hector would do best in a feline-free home, but he’s not too picky about anything else! We believe he would do well in a single dog or multiple dog household, as a family dog or a companion to a single person. Small children may not be a good match for Hector, without hearing, dogs can easily be startled by hard touches from little ones. Hector may be best suited for a home with kids 10+, old enough to understand, and work around his deafness. Hector will be a perfect match for you if: you’ve recently taken up the tuba and aren’t very good yet, frequently host, only drive with loud music, or live in a busy city. Actually, Hector would LOVE living in an ultra-urban area- new friends on all of his walks, tons of scents to sniff and lots of things to do? Sign him up! If you’re looking for a sweet, smart boy with SO much love to give, Hector is your guy. This boy is SO good. Our behavior team is prepared to have an honest conversation about what to expect and prepare for with a deaf dog. We are willing to test this handsome little guy with anything you need us to in order to ensure he’s the perfect match for you. If you have any questions about him, please reach out to his adoption coordinator, who would be thrilled to have a discussion with you about this sweet angel boy. Meet Hector in person in Friendswood, Texas, or virtually via video chat to get to know him better. Please email priya@threelittlepittiesrescue.org with any questions. Story
Meet Rio, a pocket sized boxer mix that is attentive and loyal to people. Rio is a well-behaved dog who walks beautifully on a leash, needing only minimal corrections. He’s people-focused, often checking in with his handler during walks and around other dogs. He would love to go on hiking adventures or walks around the neighborhood. Rio could live in apartment due to his smart size and leash skills. But a home with a yard to roam in would be enjoyable for him too! Rio is gentle and relaxed, accepting touch with ease and even allowing himself to be picked up and carried without fuss. He does well with a quick verbal correction and shows no signs of resource guarding affection. While he gets along fine with cats when they’re on the ground, he may chase them if they jump onto high surfaces, so a cat-free home would be ideal. Rio is best suited for a home with a medium to low-energy dog or with a family where he can enjoy being both independent and affectionate. He would do well with kids and would make a great family dog! If you're looking for a loyal and attentive companion, Rio might just be the perfect match for you! Story
Kobi is a gentle soul who may initially be a bit reserved but opens up quickly once he feels secure. Though he can be shy outside his comfort zone, he walks well on a leash and adjusts easily to gentle corrections- but he does need a strong handler on walks. Kobi has lived with other dogs large and small. He prefers the ladies and submissive males. Unfortunately, Kobi does not get along with cats, as his curiosity tends to get the best of him in those situations. He can enjoy the company of goats and chickens, with whom he has shown friendliness. Adventures? Kobi loves car rides and loads and unloads with ease! He stands on the seat greeting you (he will need to be buckled in so he doesn’t end up in your lap). Kobi enjoys listening to music in the car and will even let you pick the radio station! He also loves golf cart rides! Kobi’s ideal home would be a peaceful environment with a yard to run around. Chasing sticks is a favorite pastime of his- but he’s not really a fan of toys. When he wants the attention of his humans he will bark, making him a poor candidate for an apartment! If this sweet and loyal older gentleman sounds like he could be your new best friend, apply below and a coordinator will reach out to see if you are a match! Story
If you are looking for a toy-loving family girl who comes pre-loaded with The Good Girl Package-(which includes basic commands, house-trained, crate-trained, and solid house manners) it is your lucky day! You have found Clover, no four-leaf clover but you sure are lucky to have found her. See her in action here then come back to read more about her- https://youtu.be/QB-krIJ2nE4 Clover is currently a pint-sized girl with a touch more growing to do. Weighing 42 lbs (Oct. 2024) we believe she will top out around 50 lbs full grown. We believe she may be a boxer/shepherd mix and is in the 7-8 month range. Of course in rescue these details are offered as educated observations/ sophisticated guessing so we cannot guarantee either detail. We do guarantee the love and snuggles you are looking for as we head into those cold-weather days. Clover is fortunate to be spending the days she is waiting to be adopted in a loving and dedicated foster home. Not only does this absolutely set her up for success but it gives us a front-row seat to her developing skills and personality. Her foster family has shared that she is a quick learner, adjusting to new routines and learning commands with ease. Her foster home is a typical family home with two kids and a few other pets so she is being socialized and exposed to so many of the elements of a busy home. She still isn’t entirely sure about the vacuum but we all agree that it is understandable. My favorite detail, that you will see in her profile video, is her love of toys and her content approach to entertaining herself. She is very affectionate and would happily spend her time with her people but she can easily throw around her own toy which is a top 10 on adorable things a dog can do. When meeting new dogs she was able to greet politely on leash. Once off leash she was bouncy and playful, taking a liking to a similar age dog. She enjoys rounds of chase and knows how to take breaks and read dogs that were not interested in playing. Given her age she would love a playful playmate but with continued socializing, dedicated playtime, and exercise she will be a perfect solo-dog companion. When introduced to our house-cat she was very polite but did play-bow and politely “invited” the cat to play. Given she is young and displays a cat-tolerance, with slow intros and clear boundaries, we believe she could live with a feline-friend. Clover would thrive in a home with a yard where she has room to move and play, maybe even master fetch. Her foster family has been working with her on all the qualities it takes to be a good house dog, so she’s ready to fit right into a loving home. This sweet girl has so many qualities any dog lover will enjoy and she is ready for adoption! If you are interested in Clover and have any questions about her or the adoption process please email kathleen@threelittlepittiesrescue.org with any questions.
