Story
Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt

Story
Meet Rosie! The ultimate couch potato with a big heart and an even bigger appetite! This big, beautiful mastiff mix was found living her “guard dog” life in an abandoned home, giving the side-eye and chase to any passerby who dared cross her turf. But don’t let her past fool you—Rosie’s really just a snuggle bug who’d much rather be on your couch, snacks in paw, watching the world go by. Now, if you have treats and a good heart, you’re already her BFF. Rosie is shy with new people, but snacks work wonders. She’s dog-friendly with a proper intro and not one for high-energy activities. In fact, Rosie will probably walk herself right back home the minute she decides the couch sounds comfier than a walk! She’s the queen of tippy taps and has no problem letting you know exactly what she wants—usually a snack and a cozy spot. If you’re looking for a big, chill companion who’s more into breakfast in bed than early morning jogs, Rosie is your girl! She’s ready for a foster or foster-to-adopt home. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Maitake A17080648 lb. spayed female, approx 1 year old -She’s a timid gal and most things seem like she’s experiencing them for the first time. Like belly rubs! She tenses up at first and then slightly relaxes. Then jumps up on your shoulders for hugs and lathers you in kisses. She’s trying so hard!-She wants so badly to be receiving affection but doesn’t seem to have had many experiences with it before now-She loves to sit as close to you as possible-Likes treats, sits and takes them gently-Started to engage in play with a stuffie-Walks well on a leash-Needs time and patience and ideally a low traffic home to start to open up and trust!-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-3:30 BUT our adoptions are done 7 days a week from 10:30am -3:00pm. •The last potential adopter must arrive before 3:00 pm so we have time to properly help you before closing. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
