Story
Meet Joao! He arrived at the shelter as a lost boy on 5/1, and sadly, no one has come to reclaim him. The volunteers describe Joao as a great dog who will be a lot of fun for the right family! He'll need an active family who can keep up with him and also who can provide him with structure. Joao is intelligent, but can be stubborn. He is playful and will sometimes respond to sit and down. Joao is approximately 2 years old, and weighs 61 lbs. He is UTD on vaccines, and did test negative for heartworms. He is neutered and will be microchipped upon adoption. Please come meet Joao in kennel 20; his ID # is 18679. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.

Story
Hi, I’m Buck! I’m a great mix of energy and chill. I love chew toys of all kinds, and squeaky tennis balls are my absolute favorite. Whether we are playing fetch or I am entertaining myself, I’m a happy guy. I also enjoy walks, exploring the yard (especially to find sticks!), car rides, and of course, belly rubs.I get along with other big dogs with slow, proper introductions, but I need a cat-free home. I can be a little insecure at first and may stick close to you until I feel safe. Once I know you’re my person, I’ll happily be your shadow. My foster mom says I am crate-trained and potty-trained, but I love to sleep at the foot of her bed in my bed. I am working on some leash reactivity, especially around loud vehicles, so a quiet home with a fenced backyard would be best. I love to do zoomies, and a perfect date would be a car ride to get a pup cup. I will thrive with an active, patient family and no small children, because I love to jump! If you’re looking for a loyal, playful companion who is a level 10 snuggler, I am your guy!Like what you see? Let`s meet soon!BuckP.S. I qualify for Welcome Trial, which means you can take me home for up to 14 days to see if we`re the perfect match before making things official.

Story
A FRIENDLY & ACTIVE PAL:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 36 lbs. Hello – I’m Rockette!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I am so happy to be part of the family!  I’ve been having fun with the volunteers and now I’m in the prison/foster training program off-site learning a lot!  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and I liked playing with them, though I can get a little worn out after a while, so I appreciate having breaks or quiet time between play sessions.  If you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no very young kids that I may bump over with my enthusiasm.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a friendly, playful, and very active girl with a sweet disposition and a beautiful gaze (and a great smile, too!).  I love to give kisses and look to my people for some direction and reassurance, making me a loving and attentive companion.  I appreciate when new friends let me come to them at my own pace.  I just need a moment to warm up, but once I do, my sweet personality shines through quickly.  / Energy level: 5-7, so let’s be active together.      • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners using my EZ walk harness as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs. / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits are good on the prison/foster training program schedule, and being crated in the evenings helps set me up for success so there are not overnight accidents.  • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love ear scratches, playing with toys, and spending time with the nice volunteers.  Running zoomies in the play yard is also one of my favorite ways to have fun! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m a fun and active girl looking for a wonderful family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  May 16, 2026, 8:43 am

Story
A SUPER FRIENDLY GIRL:  Approx. 6 years old / Approx. 31 lbs. Hi, my name is Nora!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.  I’ve been through a lot and am looking forward to finding my new family with Mostly Mutts’ help.  I needed to have my tail amputated to get relief from the pain of happy tail.  Also, I am heartworm positive.  The good news is my tail amputation is behind me, and I will be treated for heartworms soon!  I am excited for the life that awaits me in a happy, loving home! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I’ve met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I was very talkative, but not aggressive, so if you have a nice doggie at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.      • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The volunteers describe me as a smart girl who is ‘super curious and a lover of attention’.  I’m a ‘people dog’ who is playful and happy.  I was a bit nervous for my shelter bath, but also so sweet and well-behaved … just a delightful girl.  I am ready to be a great companion to a wonderful family. / Energy level:  5-7 though I’ll need to stay a bit calmer until I’ve finished my heartworm treatment.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘leave it’ commands, and I look forward to learning more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / I’ve not been crated due to my happy tail.  Instead, I’ve been in one of the individual rooms at the shelter. / I've schedule, so I can master my potty skills.           • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to give and receive affection – collecting snuggles and leaning in for a nice hug.  It’s just the best!  I always enjoy it when the volunteers break out the toys at the shelter.  Play time is always fun! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  My tail has been amputated, so it is no longer painful.  Since my previous owner did not keep me on heartworm prevention, I’m heartworm positive.  Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of my treatment with their vet at the end of May 2026, so local adoption please.  I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my new family should consult their vet about a dental cleaning in the future.  I’m looking for a wonderful home with a loving family that will treasure me for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  May 16, 2026, 8:43 am

Story
AN ACTIVE, HAPPY PUPPY:  Approx. 4-5 months old / Approx. 31 lbs. & growing Hello – I’m Murphy!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I am so grateful for their love and care as I wait for my new family to find me.  I’m ready to meet them and start the good life, so – don’t wait – come let me rescue you!   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, so if you have a nice dog at home that would like a puppy friend, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a sweet, very playful boy who’s friendly, happy, active, fun, and smart! Sometimes the volunteers take me to the play yard in addition to my walks so I can run off some of my extra energy.  I was well behaved for my shelter bath and ear cleaning and seem to be a pretty good listener, too.  I’ve even heard the volunteers call me “a wonderful pup,” and that sure makes me happy! / Energy level: 6-8, so I’ll want a family that will be active with me. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’ and ‘place’ commands and I look forward to learning more.  Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs!  I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on things I shouldn’t (I chewed up the plastic slow feeder … oops …, so now it is a metal slow feeder for me). / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I've been having some accidents on the shelter schedule.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  A typical young pup, I LOVE to play and I love treats!  Capturing toys and running around in the play yard are two of my favorite things.  I would love a fenced yard in my new home where we can do just that together!  An affectionate guy, I also love to cuddle - so let’s make time for that between my play sessions, okay? / I don’t like my collar being grabbed and I did snap at someone who did that before they knew it.  Other than that, I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, though like all dogs I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow.  I’m also micro-chipped and neutered. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    May 16, 2026, 8:43 am
