Story
We have had Diesel from a puppy, and he is now 5 years old. He shares our home with a Shitzu and is good around people. He weighs 120 lbs and is good on leash, but can pull if he sees a squirrel. He will need a strong leader to keep him in check as he can be stubborn. He is very loving with his humans and protective of our home, although his bark is definitely bigger than his bite.

Story
Meet Joao! He arrived at the shelter as a lost boy on 5/1, and sadly, no one has come to reclaim him. The volunteers describe Joao as a great dog who will be a lot of fun for the right family! He'll need an active family who can keep up with him and also who can provide him with structure. Joao is intelligent, but can be stubborn. He is playful and will sometimes respond to sit and down. Joao is approximately 2 years old, and weighs 61 lbs. He is UTD on vaccines, and did test negative for heartworms. He is neutered and will be microchipped upon adoption. Please come meet Joao in kennel 20; his ID # is 18679. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.

Story
Hi, I’m Buck! I’m a great mix of energy and chill. I love chew toys of all kinds, and squeaky tennis balls are my absolute favorite. Whether we are playing fetch or I am entertaining myself, I’m a happy guy. I also enjoy walks, exploring the yard (especially to find sticks!), car rides, and of course, belly rubs.I get along with other big dogs with slow, proper introductions, but I need a cat-free home. I can be a little insecure at first and may stick close to you until I feel safe. Once I know you’re my person, I’ll happily be your shadow. My foster mom says I am crate-trained and potty-trained, but I love to sleep at the foot of her bed in my bed. I am working on some leash reactivity, especially around loud vehicles, so a quiet home with a fenced backyard would be best. I love to do zoomies, and a perfect date would be a car ride to get a pup cup. I will thrive with an active, patient family and no small children, because I love to jump! If you’re looking for a loyal, playful companion who is a level 10 snuggler, I am your guy!Like what you see? Let`s meet soon!BuckP.S. I qualify for Welcome Trial, which means you can take me home for up to 14 days to see if we`re the perfect match before making things official.

Story
Rhea might be in her golden years, but don’t tell her that—she’s too busy living life like a much younger pup. This sweet senior gal is all about walks, playtime, and tennis balls (preferably as many as you’ll let her hoard at once). In fact, she’s so independent, she’ll even carry her own leash—because why wait for humans to catch up?She’s fantastic with other dogs and still loves a good romp around the yard or a friendly play session. Whether it’s a senior snuggle buddy or a younger goofball, Rhea’s happy to make friends. She’s also gentle and loving with people of all ages, including kiddos, making her a wonderful fit for a family home.Despite her playful streak, Rhea is also content to curl up and relax once the fun is over. She’s already house- and crate-trained, so she’s as easygoing as she is lovable.Looking for a loyal companion who brings equal parts joy, maturity, and tennis ball obsession? Rhea is ready to walk herself right into her forever home.

Story
Dana’s start was rough. At just 10 weeks old she was pulled from a dog dumping site in South Georgia, covered in bite wounds and weighing only 9 lbs. She was starving, scared, and surrounded by 40 other abandoned dogs. Since then she’s spent Fall, Winter, and Spring in rescue — watching Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and St. Patrick’s Day go by without a family of her own. Today: Now 6.5 months old and 33 lbs, Dana is blossoming. She’ll be a medium-size adult when full grown. About Dana: • House + crate trained — she’s got her manners down • Super smart — watches, analyzes, then dives in once she’s confident • Silly side emerging — classic boxer “air paws” when she wants you to play • Loyal to her people — takes a minute to trust, but once you’re in, you’re in for life • Snuggle expert — happiest curled up with a dog buddy or her human • Dog social — truly lights up with another dog. A confident canine sibling will be her fast-track to feeling safe and goofy in a new home Her perfect home: Dana needs a family with at least one other dog to show her the ropes. She’d love an adopter who understands that trust is earned, and who’ll celebrate every little “first” with her — first zoomies in the yard, first toy she doesn’t hide, first time she falls asleep on your feet. After everything she’s been through, she still chooses love. She just needs someone to choose her back. Help us find Dana’s people. She’s done the hard part — surviving, healing, learning to trust again. Now it’s our turn to share her story until it lands in front of her forever family. Interested? Let’s talk about how Dana could fit into your pack. From 9 lbs and wounded to 33 lbs and wonderful — Dana is proof that rescue works. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
