Meet Miss Eloise – The Sweetest Momma Dog Eloise is a true survivor and an inspiration to everyone who meets her. Her journey has been incredibly challenging, but through it all, she has remained gentle, loving, and full of heart. We tried to rescue Eloise directly from the LA shelter as she was scheduled to be euthanized, but she was adopted before we could get to her. Sadly, but with good intentions, the adopter brought home both Eloise and another dominant female Cane Corso. Without any gradual introduction or separation, a serious fight occurred between the two girls shortly after. Eloise, already exhausted and weakened from her past, received the worst of it and was unable to fully protect herself. Thankfully, we saw a post from the adopter asking for help, and within hours, one of our dedicated volunteers had her safely in our care. Eloise’s challenges didn’t end there. She had been bred nearly to the point of exhaustion, and after just one day with her foster mom, it was clear she was very sick. At the ER, we discovered she had injuries from the fight, pneumonia, pyometra, bilateral ACL tears, and a belly full of puppies. Her resilience is truly astonishing. Even after returning home from her first ER visit, she experienced setbacks and required multiple nights of IV fluids and medications. Through it all, Eloise has been nothing short of a champion, calm, sweet, and loving. Today, she’s thriving in her foster home. She has some pep in her step and a much happier dog. About Eloise • Personality: Gentle, affectionate, resilient, and loving • Health: Recovering from serious injuries and illnesses; thriving in foster care • Dog Compatibility: Not fully evaluated with other dogs due to her recovery. HOMEOWNERSHIP REQUIRED!!!  Classic, sophisticated, and years of experience being a good girl, I'm Miracle! As a mature 10-year-old boxer/lab mix, I have many wonderful gifts for my new family. I hope you will read about me and give me the opportunity to meet you and show you how special I am. I am a graduate of a wonderful and comprehensive dog training program, where I learned all of my basic commands (and a few fancy ones, too) so I could be fully prepared to be the best girl I can be for my new home! I walk amazingly well on a leash, and I love checking out the neighborhood of my foster home with my foster sister, but I can also be 100% couch potato. I am fully crate trained and can sleep all night in my crate (full disclosure: my favorite spot is to sleep snuggled up to my 13-year-old human foster sister). My ideal home would be one with lots of love. I love attention, pets, snuggles. Keeping up with my amazing training skills is easy as I am very food motivated! I am currently fostered in a home with one other dog, and I have become BFF's with her. Through proper introductions, I get along well with other dogs. I love my foster sibling and would do well with another dog similar in size to me who also likes to wrestle and play (please check out my videos). I am a lover, not a barker, with such a sweet disposition that everyone loves. My ideal home can absolutely include older children, as I do love kids! Due to my lack of awareness of size, I could unintentionally knock over little ones. My foster home has a 13-year-old girl who lets me sleep on her bed, and I happily greet all her friends who come to visit! All her friends say I’m their favorite! Story
A neighbor found Mika emaciated and close to death in October. She spent 2 wks at the Dumb Friends League under vet care. We adopted her when she was ready to find a home. Mika is the sweetest girl - she wants affection, food and lots of exercise. She plays well with our Rhodesian Ridgeback 7.5 year old male. Our daughter was recently diagnosed with cancer and we will be traveling between Illinois and home for the next year. Mika requires training to walk without pulling on the leash and not jumping over the fence to the neighbors dog. She is 90% house trained, is crate trained and knows commands like no, sit, come here etc. It breaks our heart to have to let Mika go but we don't have the luxury of time to train or be with her. She is approximately 35 lbs and 7 months old. She would do best in a household where she can get lots of exercise and love. If you are an active household with lots of love - Mika is your girl. DNA test has been sent - breed unknown.
