Story
Copper is a lovely mix of Redbone and Heeler. This guy knows his stuff and loves to perform! He knows Sit, laydown, Roll over, speak and lovesssss to play fetch!Copper had a wonderful family, who unfortunately had a child who did not do well with Copper and he was very stressed out. It is recommend for him to be in a home with children over the age of 12yo, or with children who respect Coppers boundaries with sleep/food. Copper loves to go camping, UTVing, and days at the beach! This guy is house-trained, crate-trained, good off-leash (given proper acclimation time). He will do well in an active home who will keep up with his tricks and give him lots of room to run around and play.“I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy’s team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle me into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).”

Story
Rookie is our newest addition. He is a super sweet guy, who has been bounced around to a few different homes. He is guesstimated at 4 years old, and looks to be a Heeler mix. Rookie was not around other dogs at his last home, so we are unsure how he will react to them. He lived with cats and liked to chase them, but he never hurt them. He, however, does kill chickens. Rookie would do best in an adult home, or older children (12 yo plus). Rookie has always lived outside on a farm, so he will not be crate or potty-trained. Given time, positive reinforcement and a schedule he could live well in a home setting, although he may still prefer to be outside. Rookie is a little chubby and needs a good diet to regain a healthy weight.“I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Iggy was adopted from us as a 8-week old pup, she is now almost 2 years old and has been returned due to the family having to move to city living, and Iggy was not adjusting well. Iggy is used to free roaming on 12 acres, and not being constricted in an apartment. Iggy is a very big girl, weighing in over 100lbs. She has basic manners and is house-trained. She was crated as a puppy, but has not used one for a long time.Iggy was raised with another dog, but has not been with dogs outside the home, slow meet and-greets would be essential for proper introductions. She cannot live with small dogs, cats,or other small furry pets. Iggy can be leery of strangers, per the Anatolian breed, but she warmed right up to shelter staff. She loves treats, and getting lots of scratches! She has been doing great here at the shelter, loves her walks, and doesn't have any reactions to other dogs, people, cars, or amish buggies. Iggy keeps her kennel clean and enjoys her toys. “I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Niko is a sweet 10-month-old Rottweiler/Labrador mix. She was surrendered to a local shelter and then transferred to DHS. Niko loves to play with her buddy Copper. She is a bit shy when first meeting new people. She enjoys her daily walks and her squeaky toys. Niko will require an active home to keep her physically and mentally happy. Niko has done well here with dogs, but we are unsure of cats. Niko hops right into the car and is ready for a life full of adventures with her new family!“I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Lady is a sweet 2yo Coonhound mix, who is around 45lbs. She has been through a couple of homes, but is a loving and cuddy girl. Lady is kennel-trained and rides well in the car. She does need some help with house training, but with a consistent schedule, she can figure it out in no time! Lady is a spunky girl who loves her toys with squeakers in them! She prefers to be outside, that is where she is happiest, being silly and running around playing. Lady is said to get along well with other dogs; however, we have not tested her here at the shelter yet. She has not been around cats, so very slow introductions are important to ensure everyone's safety. Lady has been around children and does well with them. This sweet young girl is ready for her forever home with lots of adventures!“I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
To good home only, beautiful female husky mix with stunning blue eyes. She is a sweet dog, but doesn't get along with our cats, so sadly she must go. She might do better with cats who are used to dogs or cats who aren't afraid of her. She is also microchipped, and will come with all food, toys and treats. She's got lots of energy, so needs a home that can give her the time and attention she needs. We are hoping to find her a new home in the next few weeks.
