Story
Maya is 8 or 9 years old. She was from an Amish breeder here in Wisconsin. She's very smart and energetic. She's a sweet girl. However, she did get into a fight once years ago with another dog over food, and therefore do not recommend homing her with someone who already has a dog. Also, unsure about cats. Because she was aggressive with another dog, I don't think she should be in a house with children, especially small ones. Teens would probably be okay. She does well with kenneling. She has a lipoma in her arm visible in the last pic. Vet said this is nothing serious, just a fatty lump. Listing on behalf of parents whom Maya lives with.

Story
Ellie is a sweet dog with a loud bark that tries to look tough, but is a puddle of goo once you get close enough to give her a belly rub (and she gives you the chance as soon as you get close). She was attacked by another dog early on when I had her, so other dogs make her nervous. When I got her I was a single guy, but now 5 years on with a one year old, I am seeing that she has a history with toddlers that makes her terrified of them. She does great with older kids but does not have much patience for the little Godzilla chasing her around. He loves her, for the record, but does not know that she is saying to give her space. She anxious but sweet, and loves cuddling on the couch, hiding bones, stuffed dinosaurs, and following her nose.

Rat Terrier

Male, Senior
Dubuque, IA
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Ray is a 12-year-old Rat Terrier with a strong personality and unique quirks, ideal for a patient and experienced dog lover. I've cared for Ray for nearly 11 years, managing his behavioral needs, but recent life changes have made it difficult to give him the attention he deserves. Ray generally prefers not to be touched on most of his body, except for his head. He reacts negatively to unexpected handling and recently snapped during tick removal. He is sensitive to sounds in unfamiliar environments, often barking at new or unexpected noises, which can be challenging in multi-dog households. Ray tends to chew on my other dog’s fur, so he may do best in a single-dog household or with supervised introductions. Ray needs a dedicated owner who can provide a structured, calm environment and manage his particular behaviors.

(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Not good with dogs, Good with cats, Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Odin is a 7-8 year old pittie mix, his actual birthdate and age is unknown. He is fully deaf, but he will respond to some basic hand signals to sit, come, etc. He’s a super sweet, sleepy guy that loves cuddling with his humans, going on walks, and basking in the sun. He does not play well with others when it comes to dogs, so he needs to be the only pup in the house with all of your attention. He is wonderful with cats, as well as older children who can understand what it is to have a deaf dog. Odin suffers from food and skin allergies, and he does need special care (food and allergy medication daily) to keep him healthy and itch free. He really is a sweet baby, who loves butt pats and head scratches, and he will climb right into your lap for a big cuddle and a snooze.
