Story
Anansi is an extremely active and playful pup. He would do best in an active household where he can get out and see the world. He is not fond of small dogs due to being attacked as a puppy. He is very social and struggles with over excitement in public setting but with more training I’m positive he’ll be great. He’s very affectionate and does great with schedules, maintaining a 9pm bedtime since his early pup months.

Story
If you're looking for a spunky, intelligent pup with loads of personality and the most insanely cute ears, Erin is the one for you! We are desperately hoping someone out there will fall in love with this little firecracker, just as our volunteers have. She originally came to us back in October from Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC), after multiple adoptions and returns. Sadly, she has repeated that trend with us, being adopted out last fall and returned to SFTS in April. Since her return in April, she has only received 2 applications, and we are noticing her behavior start to change after so many months in the shelter. Erin is a wonderful little Jack Russell mix around 5 years old. She is potty trained, crate trained, and absolutely loves going on adventures. Erin has had many doggy day outs with our volunteers and weekend stays with our fosters, and everyone raves about how wonderful she is away from the shelter and in a home. Unfortunately, when we show her to adopters she acts disinterested, which isn't received well by potential adopters. As is true with many shelter animals, Erin experiences a fair amount of kennel stress, which results in her being a bit overwhelmed during meetings with new people. But when given some time away from the shelter to decompress, she quickly warms up and becomes the most loving, sweet girl with goofy antics. The other major hurdle for Erin is her reactivity to other dogs. She needs to be the only pup in the house, but can easily go on walks and pass other dogs when given enough space. Erin is easily motivated, and smart as a whip. Her reactivity is manageable, especially given her size, but we're sure she will make even more progress with some individualized training outside of the stressful shelter environment. With a dog as cute as her, why would you want to share your attention with another pup?! Our staff and volunteers are noticing a considerable decline in Erin's mental health and general attitude after months in the shelter. Although we provide her with daily enrichment, lots of time in the yard, multiple walks each day, and frequent weekends away or doggy days out, each time she ends up back at the shelter and we fear she is feeling defeated. We need to find an adopter for Erin, and give her the loving home she deserves. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. Story
**Participating in our Pitbull Awareness Month promotion! Adoption fee is 50% off. Julien is an absolute dreamboat! Not only is he a slam-dunk in the looks department, he's mastered the "puppy eyes" and just sucks you in with one look. Julien is sweet as can be, just melting in your hands and showering you with kisses. This kid is a master snuggler, and his tail never stops wagging. Although Julien does totally fine with other dogs when a barrier such as a fence or kennel door is involved, he would prefer not to share your attention and be the only dog in his forever home. Julien came to us with many scars on his face and legs, so we're assuming he may have been attacked in the past and understandably feels a bit nervous around other dogs. Julien has spent some time in our staff offices, as he's a favorite around the shelter. He loves to help with office duties and make sure everyone stays on task. After a few minutes of exploring, Julien settles in and lays on his bed all stretched relaxing. Julien is one fantastic pup, that's for sure! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. Story
**Participating in our Pitbull Awareness Month promotion! Adoption fee is 50% off. Hopper is the happiest boy ever and really lives up to his name. He is an exuberant boy and loves to play, but also LOVES a good snuggle session. He came to us from a crowded shelter in Ohio, and is extremely underweight, which will quickly resolve with all the love and treats our shelter dogs receive. Hopper is quickly picking up basic commands and is working on his manners, and has been enjoying walks with our volunteers. He recently visited an elementary school, and did fantastic with all the children wanting to say hi. Hopper is looking for an active family who enjoys a good laugh from his silly personality, as well as some hard core snuggling on the couch. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. Story
Kahlua is a sweet, goofy, happy guy who is sure to steal your heart! He came to us from MADACC, and has been a bowling ball of fun since he arrived. His walk is a little bouncy and over-exaggerated, so we're suspicious he might have Cerebellar Hypoplasia, but it doesn't slow him down one bit! He has have a full veterinary exam, and appears to be very happy, healthy, and pain-free so it's just a unique feature for Mr. Kahlua. Khalua appears to be dog friendly, and with slow introductions would likely be able to share a home with a cat as well. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at sftsrescue.org/adoptableanimals
