Story
Bruno came into ACHS as a stray on 4/21/23 after his owner abandoned him at a friend`s home. This gorgeous fella is very sweet and calm with people. When the staff goes in to spend time with Bruno he immediately sits in their lap! He loves kids, but needs to be in a home without small children because he is super strong and might accidentally knock them over. Unfortunately, Bruno has shown aggression to other dogs at the shelter. This could change outside of this environment and with dedicated training! However, we will only allow him to be adopted into a home with no dogs or cats. A fully fenced yard is also recommended. If you are looking for a wonderful companion and have room in your heart and home for Bruno please give us a call at (608) 339-6700.

Story
Bentley came to us because he is a big guy and he was too large for the young child in the home. He is super friendly and waiting for his next adventure! Bentley`s previous owner described him as playful, social, and a couch potato. He is a bit timid when meeting new people, but will quickly warm up. Bentley has been great with the people and dogs he has met at the shelter. He is also crate-trained.Bentley needs losts of exercise and no small children in the home. If you love to go on adventures, Bentley is your perfect match!

Story
Thor is an energetic sweetheart looking for his forever home. He has the softest coat and enjoys being petted and brushed. He loves people and his treats, which he is learning new commands for. He's learned "sit" and "shake" so far, and he is actively learning "stay" and "down" with the help of the staff in the kennel. He follows directions very well! He's very energetic, but after a walk or an opportunity to work off his energy, he likes to lie down and watch the world go by. He enjoys chasing and playing in water, playing tug-of-war, and spending time with his person. Thor would make a great companion for the right home. Story
Are you in search of a running partner? Then Daisy Mae is the girl for you!Sweet Daisy Mae has loads of energy and needs a family who will take her on daily walks and adventures. She is friendly and full of smiles, and is learning how to play fetch.Daisy doesn`t know her own strength, so no families with children under the age of 8 years old. She gets along with some dogs, but will most likely chase cats.Poor Daisy Mae was surrendered at the end of April because her family was downsizing to live in a camper and didn`t think she would fit in. All of this change was terrifying for Daisy, and she is still quite stressed by the shelter environment. Daisy Mae is spayed, has all her shots, is microchipped and all ready to go to her new forever home. If you`d like to meet this gorgeous gal, please read our adoption requirements and fill out an application online. Our Adoption Team will review your application and contact you to set up an appointment to meet Daisy Mae if you are approved. Thank you!

Story
This beautiful brindle Mountain Cur mix girl was surrendered to the shelter in February of this year. We believe her to be 3 years old. She came to us very scared and reserved and continues to be a bit guarded until you earn her trust. Once she spends a bit of time with you she shows her gentle side and loves to give hugs. She starts out shy in new environments, but give her time to become comfortable and she shows her playful and sweet side. DD loves to play fetch and does a great job dropping the toy. She also enjoys going for walks, and she LOVES treats and will take them gently. DD is looking for a patient family who will work with her on her courage and positive reinforcement training, while also spoiling her with playtime and love. She has lived with cats and her previous owner reports she gets along with other dogs. She likes to chase balls thrown at her, especially if she can catch them on the bounce. Her other hobbies are lying in the sun and playing with her toys. DD would continue to improve with the consistency of a home of her own. If you have room in your heart and home for this amazing dog, please read our adoption policies and complete an adoption application online. If you are approved, an ACHS Adoption Team member will contact you to set up a time for you to meet DD!DD`s Adoption Fee is being partially sponsored, so her fee would be $150.

Story
Meet Queenie. Queenie is a 7 year old small Pit Bull Terrier Mix who came to us when her owner died unexpectedly. After that, she went to live with friends, who could not keep her permanently, but fostered her as long as they could. Eventually she came to us here at the Adams County Humane Society where she is receiving love and care. She has been through a lot and is a little shy but is as sweet as can be. Queenie is starting to come out of her shell a bit. We are unsure how well she gets along with other dogs but she seems to be okay with them. Queenie does have some food aggression though, so she needs to be fed away from other animals for sure. Other than that, she is a total sweetheart and a favorite of everyone here at the shelter. If you have room in your heart and home for Queenie and would like to meet her, please go to our website at www.adamscountyhumanesociety.org and fill out an application today. If approved, someone from our adoption team will call you to set up a meet and greet.Queenie`s adoption fee is reduced to $50 thanks to a kind sponsor!
