Story
Meet King! King was originally surrendered to CCHS back in April of last year. This handsome, playful guy has had the misfortune of being adopted out and surrendered back twice. First, was due to being fearful of the male owner’s deep voice. The second, he was surrendered due to conflicts with another dog in the home that was not disclosed until post-adoption. With both of these occurrences, we learned even more about this active guy! For instance, we learned that King would do better as the only pet in the home! He would also benefit from a female owner who has experience with Huskies as a breed. He is a phenomenal dog, he just needs someone who is willing to meet him where he is at! Due to coming in with very minimal training and packed with anxiety at 10 months old, King was not given a proper chance to learn how to be a dog without stress and anxiety constantly surrounding him. King is now over a year old and weighs about 64lbs. Don’t miss out on such a cool guy! Apply for King today!Approved applicants will be notified via email. Please check junk/spam folders for a response. The adoption fee is $250. Adoption applications can be filled out at CCHS or online through our website, www.cchs-petshelter.org. Applications are not first come, first served. All applications will be reviewed by the adoption committee and the home chosen will be the one considered to be the best match. All dogs and puppies have been vaccinated for Distemper and Bordetella, dewormed and microchipped. If old enough, they will be vaccinated for Rabies and blood tested for Heartworm, Lymes, Anaplasmosis and Ehrlichiosis. Dogs and puppies will be spayed or neutered before adoption. CCHS is proud to be a No-Kill Humane Society. As a private, non-profit charity, our work depends on donations and volunteers to keep going. We are committed to helping the animals that enter our doors and finding each the best possible forever home. CCHS has been inspected and licensed by the Department of Animal Health - DATCP. Our license is #268235-DS.

Story
Meet Diesel! Diesel was returned to CCHS because living in an active home was more than he wanted to do. Young kids are too much for him, so he'd do best in a home with teenagers and older. He is crate trained and goes to the door when he needs to go potty. He is nervous around new people so will need a home where he can take his time meeting strangers. He is crate trained because he can be a little too busy in the home when left alone. He's terrified of the vacuum cleaner. He is on a grain free dog food due to having sensitive skin. What we have noticed about Diesel at the shelter is that he can appear reactive in his kennel. Once he is out, he's a much happier dog and quite playful. He's uncertain at times and his big bark comes out when that happens. When he is able to be comfortable and relaxed, he's a happy dog. Apply for Diesel today!

Story
Meet Blinky! Blinky came to CCHS as a transfer from another shelter that became wildly overpopulated. Blinky is a 4-year-old mixed breed that is as sassy as can be! Blinky is a little on the shy side with strangers, but once she's comfortable around you she really lets that quirky personality of hers shine through! Blinky did come to CCHS being blind in her right eye. The eye had worsened and started to cause pain for Blinky, so it has now been removed. Blinky recovered from that surgery like a champ! Though Blinky can get along great with other dogs, we still recommend that she is the only pet in the household as she can overstimulate easily. With any rescue dog, training and socialization is incredibly important to the success of the dog. Apply for Blinky today!Approved applicants will be notified via email. Story
Meet Mister! Mister came to CCHS as a stray earlier this January from the Granton area. This stunning, 2-year-old Red Heeler mix currently weighs 44.2lbs of goofiness! While we can't for certain what his life was like before, however we believe that Mister might have been a farm dog prior to ending up with us, as he didn't seem to understand what leashes, or even what a collar, was for! Mister is a super smart guy and is a quick learner; just always looking for a job to do! Our hope for Mister is to get him back to the farm life, as we do believe he would be happiest in that environment. With any rescue, training and socialization are incredibly important to the success of the dog. Apply for Mister today!Approved applicants will be notified via email. Story
Meet Lady! Lady came to CCHS with her brother, Tramp, towards the end of January from a local farm. This little Lady is a 9-week-old Mini-Aussie mix and weighs 4lbs currently. Our veterinary staff determined that Lady, much like her brother Tramp, is blind. This hasn't slowed her down one bit and she is still as sassy as can be! While Lady does have a sassy side, she only shows it when she wants you to show her loving! Although we aren't certain what her exact breed makeup is, we can tell you she is 100% your next best friend. Lady is very attached to her brother Tramp, and will need to be adopted with him. With any puppy, training and socialization are incredibly important to the success of the pup. Apply for Lady and Tramp today!Approved applicants will be notified via email.
