Story
We would like to rehome our 18 month old German Shepherd/Cane Corso male puppy. He does great with children of all ages and dogs of all sizes. He has been neutered and is up to date on all of his vaccinations including bordatella, lymes and heartworm prevention. He has had his dew-claws removed. He is sweet and smart. He is food motivated and eager to learn and please. He is affectionate and playful. He loves to fetch. He has a great recall. He is kennel trained. He is a great watch dog, but he is also friendly to anyone we have over to the house including contractors he has never met. The reason we are looking to rehome him is that he is a high energy dog. He belongs with someone very active.

Story
Hey there! Ryan Reynolds is my name, but you probably already knew that. I have unfortunately had a rough go if it when it comes to finding that right fit - I was adopted out twice but returned not long after because they didn't understand that I am what you call a "project dog". I then was adopted out another time, and man, was I thriving with them... until I wasn't. They really worked with me to be the best dog I could be, but ultimately, the children in my home were my downfall. I was friendly with them at first, but over time, the loud noises, kid's toys, and commotion was all just too much for me. I started to develop some protectiveness of my main caretaker and it was a concern for them. So I have now found myself here yet again. First-time dog owners would most likely not be a good fit for me. I have my flaws and quirks, as all dogs do, but mine do require a little more extra effort and patience to work through. I am so, so smart and eager to learn, which is why I would be a perfect fit for someone who is willing to train and work with me to be the best dog I can be! I love going on hikes and exploring my surroundings, and I am a great walker once I get into a groove! I do have some resource guarding tendencies with high-value treats and bones, but as long as you give me my space while I eat, it is something that is easily managed! Because of my history with this, as well as being protective of the person I deem to be "my human", I need to be in a young child and animal-free household. That's not to say I am not okay interacting with kids and dogs from time to time - I just prefer not to share my space with them! My ideal home? Quiet, experienced, patient, and looking for an absolute best friend. I can promise you that I will be your protector, confidant, cuddle buddy! I really need to find my forever home - this shelter life is not for me! Are you willing and able to take me home and work on this "project dog"? I promise I will give you all the love in return! Story
Hi! My name is Jason! My story is somewhat of a sad one. I was acquired by local police of that jurisdiction after being involved in a dog fight. I still had a collar and leash on me at the time, so the officers assumed I must've been someone's pet! They brought me to the local veterinarian office to check for a microchip... no luck. They held me there for two whole weeks, hoping I would be reclaimed... I never did. The local shelter unfortunately was a kill shelter, so they said if I were to be brought to them, I would go on the euthanasia list. Luckily, that's when HSSC was called into action! They were asked if they would be willing to save me from such a harsh fate which obviously is how I ended up here! Now that I have been given a second chance, I would love nothing more than to show what a wonderful companion I can be! I am SO sweet with people and just want all of the love and attention I can get! I am incredibly smart, loyal, and goofy and would make a fantastic companion for anyone willing to put in the work to make me the best dog I can be! I am a big, strong boy, so I would do best with children that can handle my energy level, but kids in my home are definitely a possibility for me! As for dogs, given my history as well as my reaction to the dogs here, I will definitely need a home without other animals. I have a zest for life, and now that I am here, I would love nothing more than to share that with a new family I can call mine! Come meet me at the shelter! I'll be waiting! Story
Hello! My name is Winchester! I am a fun-loving, big, goofy boy that came to the shelter as a stray. I am now in need of a home that will give me the exercise, love, and attention I deserve! I am so sweet with everyone, but I am pretty jumpy and strong, so I would do best in a home that is willing to give me structure, training, and that can handle a big boy like me! I would be okay with kids too, but ideally, they would be older and are used to dogs jumping and possible knocking them over on accident. I do not seem to have an issue with other dogs, but I may be too much for some dogs out there, so a proper introduction to any new dogs I meet would be a necessity! I am so much fun to play with! My little trot when I am playing out in the yard is so entertaining and cute! I would love to have someone that will take me for walks and play with me to my heart's content! Think that could be you? Come meet me at the shelter! Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Brindle Weight: 64.31 Age: 3yrs 9mths 2wks

Story
Hey! Anyone out there a sucker for Roses? Well, I have good news for you! This beautiful Rose is looking for a home to call her own! I was surrendered to the shelter for being nippy with the kids in my previous home, so the landlord made my owners give me up. As sad as that situation was, I am trying to stay my happy self and look to the future! I am such a sweet girl with people, but little kids can be too much for me, so I need a home with older, respectful kids that can give me space when I need it. The shelter environment stresses me out because I do not get along with other dogs. Because of this, I need a home without any other dogs. I also don't get along with cats. I am a fantastic walker, I love to snuggle up, and I am so smart! To make matters worse, I tore my ACL. Luckily, thanks to a VERY generous donor, I was able to have surgery to correct it! Here's what the vet team here has to say about my injury: "This pet came to us with an injury to the Anterior Cruciate Ligament. The damaged ligament was causing significant lameness and marked laxity in the stifle (knee) joint. This is a common injury in active animals that often requires surgery to repair it. This pet had a surgical repair of the ACL on 12/3/24. Although surgery is very helpful, depending on how long the injury has been present prior to diagnosis and treatment, many dogs with this injury will develop some degree of arthritis later in life. This may or may not be serious enough to require additional treatment. Weight management is extremely important for animals that have had ACL injuries. Keeping your animal at its ideal weight will help prevent further damage to the knees and other joints. As the new owner, you will assume all financial responsibility for the future medical care of your pet. It is recommended to talk to your regular veterinarian regarding any needed future care, before you make the decision to adopt this pet." There may be stipulations in the kind of home I need, but I promise you that I will repay you with so much love! I am in desperate need of a way out of this place! Think you could help me out? Come meet me here at the shelter and instantly fall in love! I can't wait to mee you! ! Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Weight: 61.8 Age: 4yrs 5mths 4wks

Story
Hey there! Diesel here, and I just have one question for you - how can you resist this cute face!? I came to the shelter as a stray and was never reclaimed. I was lucky enough to be adopted, but sadly I wasn't a good fit for them, so I had to return to the shelter. I gotta say, shelter life is really not for me! I love people, so being stuck in a kennel all the time is just not working for me. I get as much attention as I can here and it's great, but I would really love to just have a home to call my own! I am very friendly, but I would prefer older, respectful children that are able to handle being around an energetic low-rider like me. The dogs here do give me a bit of anxiety, so any potential doggy brothers or sisters would need to be a good fit for me, but there is definitely a chance! My perfect adopter? Someone looking for a best buddy to take everywhere with them, someone who is somewhat active, and that is willing to spoil the heck outta me! Think you could be the one to save me from shelter life? Ask to meet me! I'll be anxiously waiting! Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: White Weight: 65.4 Age: 3yrs 4mths 0wks
